Good man, I was just thinking that a mid week thread would be a good idea. My spare time is spent painting atm, but no doubt there'll be plenty of opportunity in the next few months. Summer riding rocks!

A mid-week ride sounds like a go for me. I have a fair bit of time available ATM and mid-week is stress free compared to weekend traffic.
An added bonus is the smug feeling of enjoying yourself while others are working. :2thumbsup

Yeah, I'm kinda sick of it too, a couple of times I might have exceeded the recommended 5000 rpm:innocent: and I've only popped 1 wheelie, accidently of course, well I wasn't going to let a chick on a scooter race me off from the lights, so I gave it a handful of you know what and I got one hell of a fright:shit:

Anyway back to the midweek thing, tomorrow night is work do, thurs is out, fri looks like rain.

Thought I had missed you all. I went Mangamarie, Woodville, Ballance, over the track to Aokautere then back over to home.
Nice and relaxing with little traffic to worry about, but the haymaking season is under way with trucks & tractors on the roads.
I spotted a few places with mud and crap dragged onto the road where they have been exiting paddocks, so a bit of care is needed. :eek5:

HAd a brilliant ride to Wellie last night for AC/DC! The traffic was unreal and it was great to be able to split all the way from Piecoc

AC/DC were fantastic! Easily the best live show I've seen for ages. The production is quite spectacular and the band in good, if relaxed form. Rosie was a bit larger than I imagined and the crowd was an amazing form of entertainment in itself

Last night was the perfect night to ride home at 2 am, calm, clear, warm, moonlit and a touch of fog just to top off the surreal feeling.

Maria and I are no longer members and they tolerate us.

Ok, from the attitude on the last ride Sarah doesn't (we are lower than the maggots on 3 week old cow carcass), but the rest do!

Very friendly group and a good safe pace without being boring as well.

Wednesday just been ended up out at a Foxton beach cafe.

Not every wednesday night dude, The club organise cafe rides every fortnight and they are specific to Club members, sometimes we get people coming along cause they want to join the club, but other than that it's not really public knowledge hence why when you join the club you get the newsletter of all our events.

There is a few from the club that do their own Wednesday night cafe rides and these are every other Wednesday night.

Heading up to Opunaki next Thursday to pick up the Daytona and drop off the Tiger if anyones at a loose end and wants a cruise. Bonus is that Kerry's installing a turbocharger into a Rocket which should be an interesting learning experience  Just post up if you're keen and I'll put up a ETD closer to the time.

Had a great ride last night to Foxton Beach then up to Tangi. We were checking out the launching ramps for when I finally get the boat in the water. Nothing beats these summer nights riding thats for sure. Speaking of, quite keen to check out City Honda's Thursday night cafe rides http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/118857-City-Honda-Cafe-Ride

Weather dependant I'm going to head to Opunaki via the Para's, Taumarunui, and the Forgotton Highway tomorrow. I need to get a few more kms on the Tiger before Kerry gets to work. Anyone keen, post away otherwise I shall do a solo cross country :ride:

86GSXR
19th February 2010, 00:42
Excellent days motorcycling! Didn't quite achieve the kms I'd like to have but there we go. Headed out at 9 am yesterday morning with 19005 kms on the Tiger and dropped it off at Kerry's with 19537.

On the way I managed Feilding for fuel and latte where I'm sure I had a convo with Mike Nash about the Tiger  Next up was Halcombe Hill, Marton Resevoir, Turakina Valley, Fordell and the Paraparas stopping at the lookout for 5 mins. Quite a few roadworks involving taking out some great corners. Why do they have to do that? If it ain't broke, don't fix it I say!

Straight through to Taumarunui for lunch then it was into the Forgotton Highway :woohoo:

I spent 15 mins at Grubs memorial. It's difficult to do this road without some contemplation and sadness at the loss of this man.

A short stop at Whanga then straight into Stratford and up to New Plymouth where there was some weather brewing. I took a quick trip to the waterfront and looking down towards Opunaki sure enough, looking ugly. At that moment the rain swept in so it was on with the wets and down the Surf Highway to be warmly welcomed by Kerry, Mary, and canine

The Tiger was whisked onto the lift followed by the always informative and fascinating catch up and coffee. Daytona unveiled and, hang on, what's that hugger doing on there? Shit says Kerry, I've put it on the wrong bike, better leave it there then eh :gob: Nah, just kidding, a wee present from Barry  Huge thanks Baz, looks great :D

Turns out the Daytona has had quite a few mapping 'tweaks' and I'm asked to road test her. Not a problem! So in due course I'm on the road and wow, massive difference through all the range! Genius!

Get to Wanga's and am met by Barry as I can't remember how to get to the house

Great catch up with Baz and Mel and a great  over the superb stuff taking place in the garage

Back on the road at 1130 in heavy rain but no worries. No :Police: and it's pretty awesome playing with what feels like a new bike at that time and place.

Great 700+ km day out.

Had a GREAT ride yesterday. I heard there was an afternoon at Taupo at a good price so I went up on the Daytona. Got to the track, there were only five bikes there, magic. Introduced myself to Shaun and quickly got into it. Wow, Taupo is quite a track alright! Quite a few of the corners (read most of them lol) took me by surprise the first time around and it was very soon apparant that my tire pressures were WAY too high. That is the rear spun up and I almost lost it about three times before saying fark that and coming in. It was great having Shaun there to offer some fantastic advice and after letting about 10 psi out of each tire I was back into it and loved it. Still a few slides but that was due to the surface repairs and a bit of dust. A few more pointers from Shaun made a huge difference and I can't wait to get back there. I have to say this was an amazing day due to the complete lack of crowding, expert advice, and 3 hours of tracktime totally to ourselves. Had an amazing night ride back home too

A shed full of bikes is a beautiful thing alright. Actually, that one is at PN Motorcycles, the Gixxers are in there for a few health checks atm. The old one started first time the other day, and the newer one took a bit of 'persuading', but she ran. It felt good to dust them off.

Awesome stuff, so when you getting your racing licence for the Winter series???
