Hae, i thought id bring this up because a few months back i caught a guy walking down my drive way towards the gararge, he obviously thought we were'nt home becasue there were no cars in the drive way. Me and my dad caught him moving in on the garage. We asked him what he was doing and he thought for a minute and then made a bullshit story up about needing a lift to taranaki {we live in auckland by the way..lol} We didnt believe him for a second and told him to piss off. I then followed him as he walked back up my street {without him knowing} and he stopped next to a bush, looked around to make sure nobody was looking and then he pulled out of the bush a crappy old bike and a packpack of tools {hacksaws, screwdrivers ect}he got on his bike and biked off. I then still followed him and he saw me and biked off fast into an alley way and disapeared.

Then today a suspicous fella parked in my drive way and starring at the bikes in my gararge as i was ceaning them, he stayed there for about 5 minutes.....i then walked towards him to ask him what he was doing and he reversed out quick and zoomed off......

There a a few bikes in the gararge, Suzuki M109R, KAWASAKI krr150, and a HONDA CBR125R......so its worrying to see people wanting to steal them.

Has you guys ever caught a burgular trying to steal your bike or bikes??

Got a camera - if you see anyone again, get a photo. Also wander down to the local cop shop and have a chat to someone - get something on record if possible.

You don't tell people if you caught someone trying to steal your bike(s).

Just just put the bits into compost bin and leave it at that.

Have a camera handy and just start taking photos of them. Phone with a camera is real handy. If things start going missing you then have some evidence for the plod.

yup got a camera, i forgot to mention my sister caught a guy trying to open my garage at the start of the year, she called the cops, and they picked him up trying to rob another house {because my garage has a secret locking system and he was too stupid to get in}

You'd better make the effort to lock up the bikes. get rego of the car and photo the driver if you can. I've alway made it a point to take pictures of strange folk who are on my property without a valid reason and I dont care if they know I take the photos or not... pretend if you have to and use your cell phone as a camera, then report this to your :Police: they cant help if they dont know anything

It sounds like your place is being scoped out.

I would take urgent action to secure your bikes for a likely upcoming burgarly. Make sure you secure them so they can't just be lifted onto a truck.
If you use a "chain" get that stranded wire stuff that bolt cutters can't cut (they use it for securing computers as well). And make sure it isn't attached to something that can be easily smashed off.

Go talk to your neighbours as well, and ask them to keep an eye out. Give them your phone numbers.

No offence man - but it sounds to me like they will be back.
Quickly shoot down to a hardware store and get a little sensor alarm thing. Even if its just wired to the light switch next to the door they will have to run to it to turn it off.
From recall M10 had a simple battery sensor unit for about $60.
It is the season where sheds get raided.
I halve my tools through similar instance about 2 years ago - people looking at them. Even my 1/2 socket SIDCHROME set which was a B'Day gift.

Late one night I was tinkering away in my shed, I hear a car pull up, then people coming down the drive, trying the doors on the cars, they get to the shed, try and open the shed door, By this time I'd scooted out the back, there is three of these big black cunts, I decide to spook em rather then fight em, So I step out of the shadows and go "What the fuck you cunts think your doing"

They run up the drive, clamber into the waiting car, I follow them all full of hellfire to the roadside, Car screams off.......and the fucker stalls it.

So I'm standing there staring at a car full of fuckwits, They are staring back at me, I'm thinking I fuckin hope they get that piece of shit started and get the fuck out of here, Otherwise I'm about to lose a fight really badly.

The closest one too me gives me the reverse nod and goes "Hey Bro,whats up". Then the car fires up and they tear off down the road.

Lmfao.

I just missed the person that tried to flog my old suzy, I got to my bike to find that the ignition barrel was absolutely farked.
Pissed me right off, the Bike was immobilised, and it cost me a few dollars for the new barrel.
Now days my bike has its own locked garage, is fully insured and gaurded by 2 of the most ferocious border collies in Palmy.

thats sucks!!, my bike is gaurded by one friendly little fox terrior called bruno..lol he does bark though and take an instant dislike to trespassers.

Nobody has yet got to the bikes, and if they did it would take 3 or 4 people a truck, and good tools to take them. but i still dont let my guard down. -max

Never personally caught any one trying to steal any of my vehicles.

However my dog did catch someone who was trying to steal my Valliant at 2am one morning when I lived out in Flaxmere.

The dog took exception to theif trying to give it a boot.

Was quite funny really.... the offender just didnt stand a chance.... hehehehe.

Seems the "Beware of the Dog" sign on the front gate meant nothing to this scholar.

I was gonna get round to reporting it to the police but figured the car thief would do that once he got to A&E.

Apparently he forgot too.

OP, I'd also consider getting a CCTV camera of some kind if you can afford it, or rig up a webcam to a cheap POS computer and set it to take a photo every 5 seconds and delete them all at the end of the week unless you tell it otherwise. Then if someone comes in, whether they manage to get away with the bikes or not, you have something to give to the police.

a electronics shop in Hastings had a set up last week(pamphlet in mail) cameras and recorder for $699? ,, think it recorded 180 hours before starting again ,, could be a good investment

I know of someone who caught some shitbag trying to break the chain that secured the someone's bike to a tree on Symonds St outside Auckland Uni.
To cut a long story short, the police found a bruised shitbag chained to a tree on Symonds St outside Auckland Uni.
You could do that in the '70s

Hah, you were lucky.

Last time we called the cops after we saw a helmeted dude hop out of a car and try to screwdriver a bike, they got back into the car before we could catch them and drove off. The cops didn't bother turning up despite the fact they turned the plate we gave them for the car up as being stolen, and despite us telling them that the car was still driving up and down and up and down Symonds St. Because they "had no units".

Whilst there was a highway patrol unit parked up at the port offramp off the southern with his radar gun out, all of 1.5km and one set of traffic lights away...

I like rurally and are always a bit concerned that some one might try to rip my bike off. Got a basic alarm system in the garage. The garage door is drop bolted top and bottom. The side door has 2 locks and the frame and door is reinforced with angle iron. If they get in they will make noise and give me time to see them off.

The bike also has an alarm system and there is usually at least one other car parked in front of the garage. The garage has no windows.

You can only make it difficult for them to get in. If they want to they will find a way.

I also have a 4 leged securuty system, Ted the Terrier.

When I was a young fella some plonkers in Porirua tried to stand over me for my bike. It was only a shitty old suzuki 250 but I guess they were just trying it on, just told them to fuck off.

Yip, Some guy pulls up, walks around the house, never knocks.... I go out and confront him and his lame excuse was that he left his leather jacket at that address after a new years party.

I reminded him he was in fact wearing his leather jacket, that I lived there and there was no such party... oh and that the dog was particularly hungry and would he like to stick around for a BITE.

I'm probably just overly paranoid but I wouldn't sign stuff off with my name after outlining my bikes security, what bike my neighbor has and the circumstances of coming across someone in detail.

If they did happen to read KB (and I guess it'd make sense if you wanted to knick bikes) and put two and two together I'm sure they would be pleased with all this free info.

Of course thats super remote, but even so giving away details about what bikes you own and security is stuff you probably want kept closer to your heart, especially if some knob is checking your stuff out.

Haha it does work a few years ago when i was little, dad thought it'd be fun to make sum burgler traps just like that (I was born making traps). Anyway a week or so after we had made these and set them each night one goes off (Me sleeping through the whole thing), Dad woke up and his window was open and the bugger tried to get in. Dad got his trusty baseball bat out and smashed his fingers! They ran like a pack of chickens and thats the end of the story lol. :headbang:

A bike mag I had once recommended that if your garage is close enough to your house, buy a cheap baby monitor.

One for the garage and the other sits by your bed. That way if they do manage to get into your garage in the middle

Also, I think knives are a good idea. Big, fuck-off shiny ones. Ones that look like they could skin a crocodile. Back on topic (sort of) was walking into the pub years ago and saw a bloke keying a car. Because I am a giant wuss I ran into the bar and asked who owned a blue fairmont in the carpark, bloke stood up and I told him the story. Half the bloody pub ran outside and collared the miscreant, and gave him a hell of a hiding (old school, no kicks to the head bullshit you see now)...

Beautiful to see, nice camaraderie amongst the Holden/Chev/Ford camps that were there, and I'm picking he didn't do it again...
