So my 2 year old takes a tumble holding mums hand last night and ends up at A & E till 10.45pm.
We end up back there this morning (8 till 12.40), now this is no big deal.
The "piss holes in the snow of my day" was this- The waiting room was not to full, a couple of other kids, adults, and retired folks. While we waited and waited and waited, into view strode a drunk women with a head wound. Now she was pursued by 2 docs, and a nurse as she headed into the carpark. A little while later she was back, and taken back inside her cubicle- 5 mins later she is wandering around the waiting area. She then heads back in, where a doc is heard to exclaim "Since you are under the influence, come back later then.." Of course she doesn't and is then seen wandering around the room as I was leaving with my wee ones.
So while this drunk meat head is wasting their time, older people are sitting patiently waiting to be seen. So while this women is taking up time and resource, a young mum and a small baby(not mine- another family) are waiting to be seen.
Why oh why did they not tell the drunk to piss off and come back sober, if she could not sit still. Where is some Dr House action when you need it, instead of this Doogie Howser approach?
There, that's better.

Drunk and obnoxious people will always get attention. They are a menace to the other poor bastards waiting to be seen. It works the same way if you are hurt or sick enough to be there. Dont be stoic! Really dont. Make a HUGE fuss. I could relay some terrible stories about drunks in ED.
Hope your young fella is ok now. Must have been very worrying!

Agree, just could not believe that she was able to wander back in after she "wandered". My approach with drunk/stoned/wasted people over the years has been "play nice- get treated nice; play hard, get treated hard". Would like to have seen a firmer response.
A and E have been great in the past when I have taken drunk or assaulted people to them in the past- so I know first hand what they have to deal with.
My girls loved the chocolate from the reception.

My wife was feeling bad- but it is a common occurrence for wee ones. She did look cute with her wee sling when we left.

My mums friends daughter went to Palmy hospital not too long ago for pains in her stomach.. And here it is, Filled up with drunks. Getting their stomachs pumped, In coma's, and a couple of elderly who were lucky to get in their before these drunks came in..
Same with my old man. He got a fist thrown in his face while he was being a bouncer at a house party.. You know.. Looking after the gate so no1 crashes.. All for his mates daughters party... And seeing as it was his eye that he had surgery on, You cant tell what the pupil is doing seeing as it is fixed.
So he gets rushed to hospital and he has to sit on a chair in the HALLWAY all night, while these teens are in there. Drunk.. What a suprise.
In my Opinion, If your ass ends up in hospital because you have been a careless drinker and drunken too much, you should be left on the ground in that very spot to die. Will save ALOT of medical care being put to waste! :done:

A&E is a nightmare and the staff just wonderful for dealing with the crap that they do. I couldn't.
My wife's a nurse. I hear a few stories from time to time. She especially gets pissed off when a patient's operation is bumped because some f'kin' loser gets pissed and totals their car or some such avoidable incident.

reminds me of my night in a &e....iam awfully ill and on the M stuf for pain waiting to go to surgery and in comes a drunk that fell over and banged his head. no blood, no blurry vison just loads of foul language and....this really pissed me off....4 of his drunk friends and his drunk daughter!!! ffs, it's a hospital not an after pub party!! i did manage to vomit on the floor and one stood in it so that made me feel a little better!
complete waste of time and money he was...he ended up leaving as he wanted a smoke and they said he couldn't, told the lovely nurse to f off and left. there are some low lifes in our society and i just think it sucks that they get the 'special' attention when they've caused their own fuck up!!!!

That's the understatement of the year. There are so f'kin' many people who will spend their entire lives taking out more than they'll put in. It fucks me off. No different back in the UK I have to say. Parasites wherever you go.
