Bike transporting from Wellington to Auckland?

Please do not ask me to go search the threads. I have, and so far have not been too successful ( or confused ) or old posts.

Can anyone please advise on bike transporters from Wellington to Auckland.
Apart from Biketrans . I have no problem with them, but just want alternatives
that some of you have actually used yourselves in the last year.

And yes I know I can ride it, but that is not the answer I am looking for, so thanks for those replies in advance :)

1. Biketrans would be your best bet.
2. If you don't want to ride it, find someone from Welly to ride it to Auckland for you, if it's in a ridable condition. Reimburse them for gas, and pay for a flight back for them. Could work out a whole lot cheaper....

Thanks DingoZ for the offer, but you may be the worlds greatest rider, but I could not live with you having an possible accident on the way up on, just because I can not get the time to ride it myself.

The problem is the bike deal will not go through until next week, and biketrans are booked up until Christmas if I do not get it to them by Monday. Hence looking for alternatives that people have actually used themselves.

You could try http://www.captaintransporter.co.nz, they do the job and are straight up honest guys (there have been a few bad experiences with KBers using a dodgy shipping company lately). Check their site and search the forums for threads on them but they're reliable... just make sure to get shipping insurance which they offer for about 30-50$. Just in case.

You are just as likely to have a transport company ding it, as some person riding or trailering it. In many ways, it's safer to ride it. Why can't you fly down and ride it back? It's only one day..

If you provide a (nice) tow vehicle and a proper bike trailer, I'd consider driving down there to collect it for you. It might take me a week though, hehe.

i live in masterton
i just got layed off so im not busy for a while.
there is a flight from Auckland to masterton for about $120 so that would get me home, and i can take the train to welly pick up pick and ride it north..
i have full licence. what sort of bike we takling here...a scooter..:msn-wink:

It seems a lot of bikers with time on their hands want to ride my new bike..

Why? Are you going to test out a whole bunch of transport companies before you make your choice?

You might only get one shot at getting this bike moved. Do it with the one company that a shitload of people on this site have recommended. Use BikeTranz.

As I said higher up, Biketrans said that if I did not have the bike ready to ship by monday they are booked up before christmas.

It is not that I do not want to use biketrans, but If I want the bike by next week they may not be an option.

Hence my question

There must be more that 3 companies in NZ that move bikes for a reasonable cost. I thought here would be a good place to look and ask advise :)

Thanks for the comments on Transpro, they are off my list.

It looks like I may have to ride, but I hope someone will come up with more options>
