View Full Version : How to tune the at-cruise rattle out of my Buell?

Anyone with a Buell got any experience with the annoying rattle that my Buell gets from time to time?

When do I notice it?

Cruising down the highway any gear at say 3-4000 rpm (low torque being applied) and then just rolling on the throttle for some gentle acceleration ....

That makes it happen every time.

Fucking annoying!

AMPS like to tell me it is modus operandi for a Buell. Really? Sounds like a lazy "we can't be fucked looking at it" excuse to me.

I note from Internet searchings there are two accessible screws for tweaking the tuning but I'm not about to start dicking with them unless someone gives me an explanation for what I should be doing with them

Looking forward to some ideas.

Cheers

Jason

To their credit AMPS contacted really quickly and offered to sort it out on the 15th in 5 days time ...

A for responsiveness

Shame though that I'm out of town then. So if anyone can tell me how to DIY fix this I would be grateful.

Sounds like a clutch basket rattle a lot of bikes have.
DL650, DL1000, bandit 1200 had the issue on the occasional bike. Putting big torque through a little clutch basket seems to be the cause. I'd guess it was especially bad for bikes that "thump" out their torque, big v twins and the like.

IIRC the later bandits had a better clutch basket in.

As in pinking? aka the death rattle? What octane gas are you putting in it?
