View Full Version : GSXR owners club of NZ

I'm in the process of startin a GSX-R owners club for New Zealanders.

Similar sort of thing to HOG only (obviously!) you gotta own a GSX-R whatever to join.

Good idea? Bad idea?

There will be a small annual subscription, to cover costs of news letter and website.

Activities will include an annual, national rally, trackdays, social gatherings and discounts from various sponsors.

To join, you'll have to provide the VIN number of your bike so as to prove ownership.

What you reckon?

Sounds like this is going to be the biggest club in NZ! Imagine the future for it. You might end up holding major race events like a GSXR cup serise!

Where do I join? :Punk:

wouldnt that kinda be like the mass debators club- everybody at some stage does it/owns one --but owning up to it ????
Nahh seriously--cool idea
I find it hard to believe suzi havent cottoned onto it --like honda have

I'd like to join but I'm missing the X-R, and about 100bhp. Seriously is there a Suzuki Owners Club? You could always set up as the 'miscreant' section.

There was in the mid nineties a great club called "Club Suzuki". They had track days and all sorts, but it sort of died. Wellington was the last place to be active but the interest dwindled.

GReat idea - but what about the other Suzuki performance bikes? Seperate club or a quiet nod based on HP?

White trash
29th April 2005, 13:53
Well, the way I see it, there's no other Jap bike on the plannet that inspires the passion GSXR owners have.

Hayabusa owners would be welcome, but I really think that a club specifically designed for Gixxers is the way to go.

I mean, the majority of Bandit riders are going to be interested in totally different things to the majority of GSXR riders.

Don't want to sound all eliteist (sp) or nothing but GSXR's rule.

And if you don't ride one, you're not cool enough for my club. Sorry.

I've got so much HOG training it's not funny mate.

But I'd like to organise it something similar to RAT.

Yep I'd be in....'specially for the track day bit.....probably wouldn't turn up to road events though, cause I tend to get in trouble at those pretending I'm in a race....better off riding alone on the road.

Other ideas:

Get Suzuki to help with organising etc - like Honda do - buy a new GSXR and gets 1 years free membership.
A member's card might qualify you for discount buying at Suzook dealers too for Gixer bits, and things like track days - GSXR members $50, all other $100 or whatever.

nothin' like tearing havoc down state highways in a pack of blue & white gixxers.

Officer: "Who was that doing wheelies past my squad car? Was it you, punk?"

Gixxer guy1: "Nah, not me mate, t'was that guy on the six-hundy"

Gixxer guy2: "Stuff off, it was bob, on his thou. My six-hundy doesn't wheelie *cough*"

Gixxer guy3: "Dude, it was the other guy on the blue & white gixxer. The one with the tinted visor"

Gixxer guy4: "Not me mate, you must be thinking about that dude over there."

Gixxer guy1: "I told you it wasn't me."

Officer: *runs home with tail between legs*

Sorry, I simply don't see any point in starting little off shoot factions of sports bikes. When I go on a ride I like to see and hear a variety of different machines.

Do HOG have separate groups for their different types of Harleys ?

What exactly is the point ?

Yea they do Most Big block Harleys don't like riding with Sportster's . They call them Piglet's . & usually only the lady's ride them any way's . Buell rider's are different again & ride together as they handle & go a shit load faster than a 1340 .

The point is WT & other's that have GSXR want to meet GSXR owner's
anyone with a Different model Suzuki etc can do the same & start their own group no law's stopping ya You could do the same with your SP1 Honda as there are plenty of them on the road to .Give it ago . :niceone:

There were all sorts of Harleys on the HOG ride I went on a while back.

My point before was that I wouldn't want to ride with other SP-1's only, cause I like to see and hear a variety of machinery.

Picture this scenario -

"Sorry Sensei, you can't come riding with me today because Im going with my SP-1 buddies" - how ghey.

Seeing as this is GSXR thread I'm not really hijacking whe I ask if anyone else has read the April edition of PB? 20th birthday issue, and contains a section dedicated to the GSXR750, from the 85 F model (I had one of them I did!) through to the K5. Gives a very brief description of every bike model, very brief but more closely examines the 4 major eras, the F-H series, J-WS, WT-K3 and the K4/5. Good read if you get the chance.

It is an awesome sight to behold. Saw about a dozen, mostly blue and white, gixxers of all ilks go past while I was filling my one up at a petrol station one day. The leader going past on his thou with the front wheel in the air...

Ok, obviously alot of us think this is a great idea, so lets see who's willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Here's what I propose:

The first Gixxer club ride.:2thumbsup February 6th (that's Waitangi day) We'll do the coro loop. JAFA's, oop's, I mean Aucklanders,:kick: will meet at Autobahn, then will meet up with non-JAFA's at the Kopu pub. Timings TBA.

This ride will be GSX-R's only (including 'Busa's), the only exception being WT if he wishes to come. It was his idea after all, and we all know where his loyalties lie anyway.:blip:

We'll do this one as a trial and if it works out, then there'll be more to come.

The destination is flexible, if there's anyone from the naki (or maybe even Wellington) keen to come, Let us know and perhaps we can make it in the Waikato somewhere.

So it's time to stand up or shut up...... who's keen?

A gixxer club would need to charge quit a substantial membership fee. After all, you'd want the club to own the equipment for fishing them out of the shrubbery as it'd be far too expensive to hire something everytime someone binned it :nya: :finger:

Sorry, I simply don't see any point in starting little off shoot factions of sports bikes. When I go on a ride I like to see and hear a variety of different machines.

Do HOG have separate groups for their different types of Harleys ?

What exactly is the point ?

i don't see your problem. i wanted to be in the HRC, but ride a suzi, so couldn't, but i'm not sparking up about it am i?

anyway, at any one time there'd be more riders walking/limping/waiting fore their bike to be straightenedthan riding anyway.....

Fu#@$kin AAAYEEEE-- Good idea let me know when you get this off the ground , i can lend some assistance for printing etc and other bits and pieces---

Great idea-- and to all that DON'T have ""Gixers"""" :nya:

F stands for Fun right ? No rude alteratives required please.

You guys get your inclusive club going and be sure to tell EVERYONE where you are headed off for your rides. Theres nothing better than having police bait on another road because I will be going the other way along with every other biker whom can ride anything just because they want to ride and not be known for what they ride.

Still it would have its useful points, like everyone been able to work out problems from common experiences and working on each others bikes.
Good luck with it.
