The reporter said that the reduction in the anticipated rise means that car drivers are now subsidising bikers by $5 each. He stated it as some kind of fact. Didn't say where the figure came from.

I sent him an email about it but it was, I'm sure, a waste of time.

Reported the same way in the Dominion. Presume it came from ACC.

The odd thing is, ACC were originally saying that "even after the new levy, cars would subsidise bikes by $77 each".

Now, we get a lower than originally proposed fee, and they talk about a subsidy of $5.

So I guess they mean in relation to the rise they originally wanted to give us.


It's all propganda, of course.

I think they realised that their own stats,presented by Ixion,stoney et al,show to any average NZer that the statements on subsidisation are easily shown to be totally false..
therefore they needed new,lower ones.
