I have organsied a street party for this afternoon, you know the sort of thing, BBQ, drinkies and shit talk with the neighbours. We have a 6m x 3m gazebo that we only use at our caravan over summer. Because it is so big, we cant leave it at the caravan as we also go up there weekends through out the year. So we bring the poles, walls and cover home to store it.
We are putting this thing up here today to provide some shelter. I realised yesterday that all the guys and pegs are up at the caravan so we have no way of tying this thing down. So, we went off and bought a couple of bags of largish tent pegs yesterday. All good to go now :headbang:
Today is lovely up here, bit of a breeze but nice and sunny. Maha and me have been assembling the frame, looks good. I go and get the cover from the gargre and realise that the toggles that attach the roof to the friggen frame are up at Ruakaka in the cupboard in the caravan! We have no way of holding the cover on the frame
What a friggen dick :o We could have gone up there yesterday and got them had I realised. As it stands Maha is off on his bike to go and get them, will take him a couple of hours. Like he said, lucky the party starts at 2 not 12 :niceone:
Have a laugh on me eh

Sometimes I spend a bit of time in lala land, too!
I always blame stress...you've certainly had a bit of that lately, too, so there is your excuse.
Have a wonderful party, Anne. Reclaim the peace, the sense of neighbourliness and community.
Celebrate the life of your neighbour too, and have a drink for me!

I went down to the 4 Square just before to get some supplies and the owner said to me, "I must have had the entire Percy St neighbourhood in the shop this morning, looks like you are going to have a good one"
Did you see the article in the Sunday News today? Bloody terrible! Her family have just been here clearing out all the possessions. If that is done then there may well me a Kaumatua blessing next door this afternoon too :niceone:

Now the real pisser would be Maha arriving at the caravan and realising that he's left the caravan key at home...:blank:

Ah no mate, that is a "Was Bound to Happen" award....
A 'Dick of the Week' would go to someone who, I dunno, loaded up a roofrack with 200kg of camping gear and forgot to tie it down.....or someone who brought a crate of empty bottles to a party by mistake.....now who would do a thing like that....?
have a great day mate, give Maha a coldy when he gets back and have one yerself, reckon they will be deserved.....

That should be OK, they have a spare key up there. I just rang the camp, there is a problem Houston. The manager is having the weekend off and is not there. The van is in storage, and they are parked very close for security. There is no one there to pull it out. Maha may not be able to open the door

Well, I guess no matter what happens you're gonna have fun anyway. Don't fret! All the best! We've got a BBQ this arvo as a friend we haven't seen for years is over from Aus so we'll be passing through WW to Matakana. Won't be able to drop in this time, but we'll think of you as we go through! :niceone:

Would cable ties have done the trick?

It was a rather spirited ride, Southern side of the Brynderwyns have a nice new black tar seal all the way to the top (not before time) and the Waipu Straights were clear of plod so had a wee moment for myself. There was about about 400mm between ours and another caravan, the door opened (yes I had the key) but the gap was very small, thought I may have to take the towel rail of the door to get in (things we do) but as Nasty said, im cant be a fat arse after all. I got into and out off tighter situations before ..home by 1.15 ready to erect....:msn-wink:

Poxy wind got up just as we went to put the cover on. I could not use my Xmas table cloth :weep: It attempted to be a spinaker, everything we attempted to put on the table had to learn to fly! Hauled it off in the end.
What an awesome day.
