Going a a jaunt for xmas. Our last day will incorperate Waioeka Gorge from Gissy and back through Taupo and home to Ashhurst. Leaving Gissy at 10am on the 28th December so those manawatuians who want to ride this with us might have to arrange accomodation and ride to Gissy the day before. Anyone from Gissy who wants to meet for coffee and chat and a bit of a ride is more than welcome. Pace will be around legal speeds but seldom under it (We got 650k to to that day and coffee to drink)
Post up if your keen and will arrange some kind of meeting place (dont know Gissy at all so could be interesting)

At this stage 2wheeled Gasman and I will be doing this run on the 21st or 22nd if it's fine weather, if it's not fine then we'll have to look at a later date, not sure if the 28th would fit in for 2WG man and his family commitments but we'll see.

My favourite bit of road, love that gorge.
If you have time (sounds like a long day), call into the track at Taupo.
The TRRS is on, over 200 riders entered, lots of KBers there.

will be our first time on it...have heard nothing but good about it. Hopefully NZSarge has had a good run over it today. May be a little late by the time we get there, I am not sure what our time will be like. Could meet up for a coffee if we get there too late.

If you are passing through Tolaga Bay, a good mate of mine is running Pete's Palace by the boat Ramp at Anaura Bay, about 20Ks north of Tolaga, The Coffee and food is Great, and the Bay is spectacular, worth the detour off
SH35.
There is also a camp ground at Anaura bay to.

he generaly takes bookings for dinner, as he needs to get supplies from Gizzy, hes open 8 am to 8 pm, if you can book dinner earlier in the day you wont be disapointed, you may be able to get around this by ringing the Anaura bay camp manager and asking if they can place the booking with Pete for you, if you have an idea when you would be there by, I dont have their Ph No.
I can PM you Petes cell Phone No, there is no cell coverage at Anaura, but he goes for supplies every second day.

You're welcome dude, like I said to you it made it all the easier relaxing at your place for a couple of days before hand and an ideal place to launch from although it was still a reasonable distance, still a lot less so than if I was leaving from home to do that loop.

Escorted Mr and Mrs Cowboyz out of town as far as Taupo today but only after an hour of riding to PN and back to search for his wallet which was found in his pants pocket, right where it should have been:wacko:
Nice ride to Taupo despite the traffic. Truck lost his trailor just out of Turangi in between when Cowboyz and i went through and Monie and Flynn were following not more than 5 mins behind us, thankfully we both managed to miss the drama. Some poor soul on the desert road on his blue and white Suzuki had done something terribly wrong to have three police cars at his side with thier cherries lit up. He wasnt looking happy
Nice poodle home apart from that
Have a safe one Cowboyz

Oh man! That sinking feeling sucks when you think you don't have your wallet on you and you're miles away from home..

Might have been keen to go too if I was'nt so knackered, been struggling a bit with irregular sleep the past few days.

Definitely been noticing extra issues on the road atm, had some knob heads come up behind us at the end of the FNR, plus some other odd behavior that seems to rear it head during the holiday season..

Drove (not rode unfortunately) through the Waioeka Gorge on Christmas Day and back again on Boxing day, the road is in pretty good condition.
Enjoy the ride.
Edit: Actually I only drove there, was relegated to the back seat and paying for petrol / ice creams on the way back.
