Afternoon lads, ok following on from Nordies thread and the wealth of info that has come from it I have decided to get intiminators for the Suzy forks.
There is a 20% discount available to 24th December which I wouldn't mind gettin down on, goodies would arrive in NZ in the new year of course and we could have the lot sent to one address saving a bucket on shipping.
Anyway, Bart and I are keen, anyone else wanting them let us know and we can swing something together to make it worth while for everyone.
Cheers Andi

So what's the diff between intiminators and cartridge emulators then?
NordieBoy

So what's the diff between intiminators and cartridge emulators then?
The Intiminators have an inertia valve in addition to a shim stack to seperate out chassis movement from wheel movement.
Chassis movement - heavy damping.
Wheel movement - light damping initally firming up to normal damping.
Not just high speed/low speed with a shim stack and pop-off valve.

So what's the diff between intiminators and cartridge emulators then?As Nordie said, but Emulators are a poppet valve, not a shim stack. Have only a single rigid washer held closed by a coil spring.
Emulators are great, but Intiminators are the next generation.

Yes, You've got something on the brain.
I spotted a few in different threads and pm'd a mod, they are probably nukeing them now and the user who posted them.

I've just found the code for africa twin ones 'xrv.org'
It chops the price in half to US$187 which includes US$38 of freight :eek5:
Thats $259 in real money all up
So if your forks are 43mm enter the @ code or maybe even try entering it for your size and see if it works

I'll let you know when mine turn up.
If the fork size is the same and they just sit in the bottom doing their thing I doubt that the fact that they are in a lesser brand of bike would make any difference

I was wondering myself if there were differences in design/construction for different bikes with the same fork diameter, say due to different factory spring weights or something, or whether a particular size will work in any bike with that fork diameter.
If they will work the PD could most certainly benefit I think.
Anyone know?

The shims are valved to the application.
The TA ones may be set up for a firmer ride than the DR ones to handle the extra weight.
But probably worth the risk :2thumbsup

Possible weight differences could make quite a difference to the bike, I wouldn't risk it for that money if I was unsure, rather spend once and wisely.

emulators need more work whereas the intimininators just drop in with an oil change and some spacers. I've got both and prefer the 'nators.

Pulling the forks apart and drilling out the compression holes in the damper rods, shorter spacer.
With the Intiminators you drain the oil from the fork, drop an Intiminator in, re-fill with 5w oil (10w stock) and put a spacer on that's shorter to allow for the length of the Intiminator.
That's it.
But I think Dr Robert is really keen to have a look at them :D

I just dropped mine straight in , figured 21 years of punishment would have caused the springs to sag 10mm or so .
I wound the rear up a bit to even it up .
If you want testimony on how good they are just ask Woodman and he will go on about them as though he's just discovered beer or sex ...
And he's right , we would have had a real hard time on the DB two up without mine fitted to the Africa:2thumbsup

They only do 50% off until a shop picks up the line.
Procycle, Cogent, Kientech all sell them now.
All you could get is probably cheaper postage.

The postage is calculated automatically by UPS or whoever.

Are you talking Emulators of Intiminators sil3ntwar?Intiminators. From what i have read the average street rider thinks they are awesome. However the few people that have raced with them have said the Race Tech Emulators are much better. I am sure they will improve the bike but i am a little nervous about wasting money!
And the 50% off deal is only for the ninja 250 sorry guys! But if you ask they should do one for this site to cover the needed bikes.

For off-road it seems to be the opposite.
When you first run them it feels really weird having bugger all brake dive. But then when you get used to them the lack of dive coupled with the suppleness over the bumps is really nice.
There is a money back guarantee with them too.
RT emulators make the fork feel like a more expensive normal fork.
The Intiminators are a totally different feel and unless it suits your style or you get used to them I can see how some people could dislike them.
I wish they made a size for the XR250 as I'd be running them in that too instead of the YSS PD valves which are brilliant in their own right ($200nz+drilled damper rods etc).
