bit of an odd one guys but any advice would be great.

I've been riding for a few years now, and recently a friend of mine passed her test and asked me to help her out getting used to being on the road.

long story short, I really enjoyed the challenge of improving her riding, finding what she was doing wrong, and working out how she could fix it. this came mainly in the form of cornering lines, and clutch control stuff.

this got me thinking, currently i work freelance in live events industry, which pretty much dies once christmas hits, and doesnt start picking up again until mid february. - could I become a bike instructor for the mean time, what qualifications would i need? and generally, whats the deal?

any advice would be great.

Cheers

Tom

One has to do the instructors course there are several out there.
Cost about $4500
One becomes a fully qualified driving instructor, then apply to NZ transport agency to obtain a class 6 driving instructors endorsement.

The process took me about 8 months

any questions just pm me

Thanks fella.

I'm assuming that trains me up to be a stand alone instructor, do you know if its possible to be an assistant instructor without having to do the full course?

You have to get an "I endorsement" to be any kind of instructor, as shown below..

http://www.nzta.govt.nz/licence/getting/instructors-testing.html

http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/factsheets/05/i-endorsements.html

It is a very involved process.. not to be undertaken lightly.. as HR says.. it takes several months & costs a few thousand!!

I am a NZTA qualified instructor with Roadsafe www.roadsafe.co.nz :scooter:
