like they cut out all the good corners on the lead up on the south side (just before the cart track etc) and lots of good bits on the southern ascent of the hill itself.

I think the weather is still much the same..

sigh, good memories of many crazy burgers (lots of yummy stuff between two bits of bread/toast) and lots and lots of coffee before fangin it down the hill and back for more coffee.

Or improve your lines. Apparently even Senile Old Farts can manage 11 minutes bridge to bridge.

I quite enjoyed watching that, how does your VFR800 compare to the VF1000 in the video out of interest? And how do rate a V4 against an in line 4? Cheers.

First rode that hill in 1955, the changes in the road are almost as many as the changes in motorcycles themselves since that time!

Unbelievable! :shifty:

Wont be very long and it will be straight! :(

Where to then for a wriggly fix? Build your own road somewhere else! :devil2:

I know what you mean bro, when I was filiming that video the first time a dam slow ute was doing like 30kph through there and there was no where to pass safely.

Just do what I do, pull over for like 10 minutes then take off again, if you can meet back up with them in the twists then you know you are doing good XD. I havent been to the rimutaka's though, do you want to go for a ride through there? Teach me some things.

Haha, 10mins is nowhere near enough time on the 'takas!! You'd have to be stopped for half an hour or more....
Sure thing tho, if your ever in WGTN just post up, im sure there'll be plenty keen for a hill run... there always is

When you dont have a watch time goes by fairly fast along the side of the road aye.

Hill run? Are the hills in the taka's fairly steep? If it is how do you cope on the GN!! Might as well walk the bike up XD jokes.

I dont know my way through there but a few minutes into it I should get the feel of the corners plus im keen for a ride.

I hear you on that one, unfortunately I never went past 10 revs in the video its because the exhaust has been played around with by the previous owner to sound like a mental f1 car. It was barely hitting the powerband, if you are up my way anytime you can take my zeal for a blat.

Yes its steep! It cliimbs heaps! And the GN handles it easy, cos you cant really go fast up it, tight and twisty all the way... 2nd/3rd and some 4th gear corners...

Umm, double yellows, and 10-15 cars between me and the bus. Yes the dropkick didnt even pull over and let the queue past.

Sounds fun, you'd beat me no question, not that we'd be racing but if it were stick to throttle you'd either lead or keep right up my behind like im back stage at an Elton John concert even if I did know the way through the taka's. Seen some guys on Gn's go pretty fast through the twisties they have the low down torque acceleration out of corners and higher pegs for cornering.

Its a big NO NO in my books to try to pass a car in the twisties in that situation you mentioned huffr because if something were to go wrong ive seen videos of riders just being squatted like flies, sad stuff but the real price to pay for misjudging passing through a blind corner.

well, the 1000 feels like it has heeps more grunt, i guess you should expect that from the extra cc's. of course the 800 feels lighter and more flickable. after saying that i never had any problem getting the pegs down on the 1000 up the tucks, and for a poor rider (ability wise) it was always great to be able to just open the throttle in any gear and pull away form the last cocked up corner..
touring, i prefer the 1000 for the extra power, and it's heavy so has great stability and road presence. side winds dont bother it so much.
the 800 is much more comfortable, the 1000 is more of a race seating position where as the 800 is more touring upright.

i have not ridden many big 4's only little ones (gsxr 250 etc) so i cant really say i'm afraid. i always thought an old gs1000 might be fun though.
