Managed to get this on Ebay USA for NZ$232 including freight.

Came off a written off 2008 GSXR1000..front end...and was only 8 weeks old at time.

Seller was getting rid of old stock.

Was also selling rear swing arm and other rear bits so reckon the shock will be okay as per photo.

Gonna fit it to the SV...now that is my next task :buggerd:

My SV shock has done 65,000k's and I cannot go wrong with the purchase.....:scooter:

True, but how much was the shipping? Sometimes seller sell stuff for cheap as, and then add ridiculous amounts into the shipping fee. Like this shock for instance http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-suzuki-gsxr-750-gsxr750-rear-shock-linkage-96831_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4ceb26e26fQQitemZ 330362708591QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories #ht_500wt_948

ive seen that done on ebay aussie when looking for dvds... cheap-ish disc, but some are about $30AUD in postage. fucking insane! think the cheapest ive seen was $12AUD, but the movie itself was hellishly expensive.

US$80 but for NZ$232 I have got myself an rear shock from an 8 week old bike that is hardly bedded in so no complaints and remember the seller does not get the postage

Still works out cheaper than getting one at a NZ wrecker - if they even have the part!

I'm happy to pay $75USD for shipping on exhausts and large bulky parts, in the past I've had nothing but good experience and they usually do a damn good job of packaging items. When you're saving $600 on an item compared to buying it in NZ, paying $110nzd for shipping isn't the end of the world.

remember the seller does not get the postage

Not always the case. I think the last exhaust I brought in for a friend the shipping was $50USD. They charge $25 for the hassle of packaging it up and filling out customs packing slips etc. That's just how ebay is. Still cheaper in 99% of cases than you can find in NZ.

Is it a bolt - up and well known mod? because it strikes me that unless the rear suspension geometry, linkages and mounting and all that stuff is the same, whats the point? serious question by the way: I owned an SV650 and the worst feature of the bike was the suspension, though the front was WAY worse than the back.

Yes it is a well know mod for the SV1000S...instructions etc on the web..only difference is the adjusters are on the left and on the SV they are on the right..

Just bolts straight in.....

I did the research before buying

My 1st gen gsxr has a 2005 R1 rear shock on it, real easy mod to install so much nicer than the clapped out sponge that was on it. :headbang:

Got it off ebay don't recall how much, not big dollars tho less than $200nz easily.
