if you are game I'll be up for it. Odlins Rd followed by Karapoti to Praparaumu?

would you be on the DRZ or the whale (I'll take the DT - it needs a test run to check it out for cnut)

would prefer a lateish morning meetup (11ish?) and I was planning on taking some sammies in to have at the hut.

Hmmm, sounding like a drr kind of a day. Just to get it straight, I'll meet you at odlins (at the top of Kaitoke) at 11am. We ride in to the hut, turn around and go over Karapoti to Praparaumu and the I'll take haywards back to Moonshine?

can we make it 11.30 (getting some blinds installed first thing in the morning) at Odlins Rd at the summit of the Akatarawa Rd (above Reikeorangi)?

so we nip into the hut for lunch and then back out then go east on the akatarawa rd to karapoti then back to paraparaumu via the pram track perrins rd, mungatooks etc and you head south (over paekk hill?).

if we did all that we'd be back at Paraparaumu at about 4.30-5? - is that ok?

apart from start time - I'm flexible on everything

Looks like you guys had an absolute blast! If you keep that up i reckon you'll find the infamous "nothwest passage" and create an Odlins Rd Loop! Either that or buy a Trials bike to have even more fun in there!

Nice one guys!
:2thumbsup

(p.s. didn't look too T/A friendly LOL!)

I may be keen, there is another track that you maybe interested in that runs from the back of otaki over to north manaku road i have been through this track about 2 mouths ago with Gav and its hard work but great fun with some amazing veiws of kapiti coast, round trip would take a good part of the day with some state highway riding.

Yesterday Mark & Glen took me on their local loop in the Mungatooks. It was a maze of singletrails - barkbusters are essential equipment, also some long rutty uphills. Not recommended for adventure bikes :dodge:

thanks for posting Andy - seeing MarkS on his Yamaha in his home play area gives me some appreciation of why he's so confident when riding ADV on his KLR - somewhat due to the practice he gets riding his Yamaha WR weapon

It was a fun day - thanks Andy for keeping us company
how much do I owe you for not posting that photo of the WR hanging over the ledge?

I got a new rear tire today on the WR to stop Glen wingeing when he rides it.....

Hi Stephen - fooling around on the trail bikes certainly helps with general 2 wheeled confidence - but I still seem to manage to make a complete tit of myself on a regular basis

belated happy birthday BTW

I shall repay the favour someday :)

Anyone keen for a stroll up Odlins Rd this afternoon???
prolly get up there 1-1.30 (will confirm a bit later)

If I get company I'd like to explore the new bit Shane found the other day which means its generally suitable for smaller knobby equipped bikes

Hey didnt get message till it was to late

no problem

I waited till 2 then (sobbing quietly) headed off up to Odlins Rd
The river beyond the hut is quite a bit higher and I wasn't game enough to try and cross it by myself

some of the puddles that we splashed through the other day have turned into BIG MFER PUDDLES that scare to poos out of you when you hit them too fast :baby:

catch you next time

The first time I took my DR in there with Trailwings on resulted in the "summersault incident"!

Hmmm. Best I go buy a new knobbly.

I had plenty of spare tyres, but of course the DRZ400 and DR650 have a different size back wheel, so now I'm starting again. You'd think they'd make the parts interchangable between both bikes, but almost everything is different.

Well you're way more skilled than me mate so you'd probably be fine; Gav has been in there on Trailwings on his DR no problem but all I know is a pair of D606's on my DR made a hell of a difference to me, being not that experienced offroad!

And YES Suzi have a bloody cheek not makin the DRZ400 & DR650 with at least some basic stuff interchangeable... like rear wheel size for a start! Idiots!

There are a few places that you would need to use momentum due to the lack of traction but otherwise you'd have no problems - its even fine after rain as its stony and drains well

come down and we'll take you for a guided tour :wari:

:weep:I'm out for a while (leaving aside the fact that I have to work anyway).

The inlet rocker cam follower bearing is stuffed, & I'm waiting on parts for a rebuild of this area. Going to line Mr KTMs pockets, me thinks.:buggerd: That repair seems fairly standard at my mileage, just I wish It could have waited until after New Years. :niceone:
