I've done it.
Yup, I've just done some of you guys a huuuuge fuggin' favour............if you're man enough to take advantage of it.
I've just arrived back at work via Wellington, Sydney, Darwin and Dili and for the last 18 hours of travelling all I can think about is some innocent lil' letters dropping through the gaping maw of a post box. OK, so my fingers may have been just a tad reluctant to release their payload but release it they did.....eventually.
"So fukkin' what?" you ask.
So after months of talking myself up, down, and around it, I've just entered the National's, Production Superbike.
But while I'll be giving it 100%, realistically I'm going to be at the back of the field. Which means the rest of you guys have one less reason to not compete, 'cos you should have no fear of comin' last. I've had bugger all time on the new bike, can't compete in any of the Tri-Series lead up events thanks to work, and haven't raced since Round 5 of the Winter Series......but I'll be sharing the track with some amazing riders and I'll be learning as much as my age addled brain will soak up.
Opportunity is an open door, but shit happens, and before you know it the blardy thing has slammed closed. So ready or not (not!) I'm stepping through it. What's the worst that could happen? I come last, or don't qualify and get to play in Clubman's instead which was my wuss out Plan B anyway. But, I might also be lapped on the last lap of the last race at Hampton Downs and get the best seat in the house as Craig or Stroudy pull a legendary 'round the outside pass on Robbie in the sweeper to win the Championship.
Who knows, but it'll be an adventure whatever happens. Part of me is nervous as fuck, but most of me can't wait: roll on January, and whatever it brings.
So have a go ya mug and join me.

Good on ya!
Are you doing all 5 rounds?
I entered Puke last year, first time in Nationals and it was well worth it!
I'd love to do the SI tracks! Not this year (just the NI rounds), but hopefully next :)

Thanks mate, and thanks everyone else for positive responses. I'll be asking you lotsa questions alright, just be sure to use very small words and speak real slow: you techo/fast folks speak a different language to rest of us!

Fingers and toes crossed for ya mate. Hopefully you'll be able to show me the quick way 'round the North Island tracks anyway eh?
By the way I wasn't meaning to crow about it, I just want other people to have a think about it too. There are lots faster racers than me who should be thinking about entering. It would be a much better show for both competitors and spectators alike if a few more fronted up.

Good on ya slowpoke i have put my entry in for the ruapuna and levels rounds in superbike, went well in clubmans last year time to move up. Thought that I would be at the back of the field but there might be few of us to make it interesting, planning on moving out of the way of the top guys when required. Lets hope plenty of good club riders enter A large field of superbikes on the grid at the nationals would be a great spectacle for our sport come on boys and girls get your entry in

Great to hear you will be attending the national series Spuddley, - It is the most testing series for your race skills that New Zealand has to offer (as would be expected of a National Championship).
All riders that achieve the goal of competing at this level for the full series will be provided with a new base level of whats required to ride fast and consistent.
Theres a whole lot more too it than just what happens on track to Spud, - it will be an experience in all respects including personal and bike preperation and organisation.
If the shit hits the fan - dont hesitate to ask for help. Whilst it is a very focussed and intense paddock at this level - everyone still pretty much helps everyone out.
Best of luck mate

Exactly! The more the merrier eh? As for those fast buggers, just reinstall one of the mirrors like I'm going to.....

Thanks Glen, it's approachable fast guys like yourself who make it a lot easier for the rest of us to actually contemplate doing it. My absent minded cock-up at HD (which you helped me with) has already made me realise that I've gotta lift my game off track as well as on.
I'm already seeing the way the paddock kind of helps each other out too, with a couple of NZ's elite racers already helping me out with some logistical issues. It looks like my bike is going to have the fastest chauffeur in NZ, and just watching how he operates will be worth it's weight in gold.
Yep, it's gonna be an eye opener but that's why I'm doing it, and other people should think about doing it too. If nothing else, with my crappy work roster it means I can basically do what would have been a whole years worth of racing and learning in just a couple of months. The fact that it's forcing me way outside my comfort zone has to be a good thing.

Thanks mate, talking with you and Ed up at Hampton Downs is what sealed the deal for me. I was 99% committed but hearing your attitude gave me the extra kick in the pants to really make things happen.
I'd buy you a beer but I know you'll be in full training and won't want to compromise that incredible physique:crybaby:

Hi woodyracer
As far as i know no Sth is ss150,s doin manfield or HD.
We have a 3 round Sth is mini champ (as a support to superbike nats)
But as MNZ wont reconise us as a class (at national level) SUCKERS.
We just do the sth is at the moment. I know it sucks..........but untill you can get MNZ to actually do anything the "riders want" it remains the same.
Guess you would have to enter clubmans or F3 at manfield eh
GOOD LUCK & ENJOY
