Over the last few weeks I have test ridden a 1200 Bandit (twice), a honda harley wanna be thingy, a honda firestorm, a Kawasaki V750, a Kawasaki Vsometing else 750, a Suzuki SV 650, and a GS1200SS.
Well guess what? Today I bought a brand spanking new GS1200SS.......what a fun sexy grunty bike! It's a bit like me..kinda ugly, but lots of fun to ride! Picking it one evening next week, then look out, I'm going riding!!

Good work! They are definitely fun. I took one for a ride when I was thinking about getting back into bikes, and reckon they are a lot of bike for the money.

Love those motors.

Just looks a bit odd with the huge front fairing, but those motors rock.

i have one - and it's a better bike than i thought it would be.
i was going to modify it - but i LOVED the super-smooth power, so may not change it at all.
look-wise, it has a certain bodgy charm, and it's been super reliable.
go well!

The Kerker in that case...... can is the muffler, they sound sweet with one kinda old school unlike the new muilties.... they just scream.

Can? what's a can? Short for "canister"...in other words the muffler!

Congrats on the new wheels Aitch. I've seen a few of them on the road and they've always turned my head! :Punk:

Congrats on the new purchase. My other half has one (his is one of the three red/black ones that came into NZ) and he has added a tinted screen and Neptune muffler. Is also looking at fitting a belly pan - has part of a crashed GSXR600 one that he's trying to modify.

The Neptune looks much better than that fat round huckery thing that sticks out on an angle (and, of course, sounds much better!)

An all round good bike, and yes, very very good value for money.

Enjoy!

hows the GS handle at highway speeds aitch? I had one for a day last year as a loan bike and it was the singularly most unpleasant experience at 100kmhr I've ever had due to the vibrations! is yours smooth?

Good buy Aitch, you should have a great time with the GS.
Coldkiwi, there must have been summit up with the one you rode. Mine is smoove all thru the revs - well at least up to 9.5-10k when the rev limiter cuts in. The faring takes care of the wind very well, at least up to 180 kmph and then there is a bit of drag on the helmet.

There are a few other GS1200 peps here: Badcat, Flipper, Jantar and Lynda's other half, probably others as well.

I have a tinted screen. Was looking into a Scott muffler but changing from the big stickyout thing could remove warrantee so will prob wait a couple of years. Can't hear the motor at all while riding which can be a problem.

Good riding Aitch.

hey lou - shoot me down if i'm wrong here - but...

pixies one is only to the 3 bolt flange. the gs1200 doesn't have that.
you'd need another piece with the other side of the 3 bolt flange to use it on a GS, wouldn't you?

must've done. Funny thing was that the boys at holeshot reckoned I should've been overawed at the bike after returning it but due to the vibes I couldn't wait to get off it!

Yes, around $650, depending on what you choose (you can choose the sleeve and either single or double outlet).

And yes, Mark's a good guy.
