Had my first crash yesterday coming home from Piha.

Was going round a pretty normal corner where i guess i hit what looked like a resealed part in the tarmac and lost the rear end. Bike slid out from under me and i hit the road pretty hard and fast. Slid a good 15m into a ditch to find my poor VFR just up from me upside down :(

Thankfully i was in full leathers and walked away without even a scratch!

Now to go pick her up and see what the damage is...

The road to Piha is pretty good but quality wise I've seen better. I have also noticed a lot of fine gravel or smooth tar on that road on many occasions

There is a lot of vehicle movement on the road to Piha which is why i have moved to riding SH16...

Ya bastard, how could ye do that to a viffer!?

But now that's out of the way, find out what the damage is - I've got spares of everything from lights and indicators to subframes, and know a mate that has got a set of spare fairings. :)

Go see AJ at motohaus for any bits, he's still got far too many sitting on the floor in the side room  If theres an issue with the seal in that spot report it to the waitak city council

From first look after stripping her looks like the tail is somewhat bent.

Will need new fairings on the front right and front end.

Console is bent and will need to take off to assess damage.

Needs new rear brake set.

Who is good to take it to to give it a quick once over before i start the damage control myself?

Cheers all for help

VFR's are pretty sturdy though. Mine used to take a hammering and still be sweet.

Hope you're all good and the bike isn't broken too much

Thats no good. Hopefully the bike isn't too bad and you don't find any hidden injuries

Yeah I was on this road (first time ever for me) yesterday and was appalled at the condition of it. I felt the rear slide out on me on a right hander coming back, probably the same corner :S. Good luck getting her back together though mate
