Calling all Christchurch bikers: You have no doubt heard about Ewan Christie's tragic accident on Saturday at the Waiau bridge. Tomorrow (Friday 18th) is his funeral, and Seona wants as many bikes as possible to give Ewan the sendoff he deserves. Even if you don't know him, odds are good you'll meet Seona at some stage and he has a heap of good mates in Aberdeen who can't make it, so you can represent them.

It's also a chance to show that when one of us dies, it affects all of us.

Meet at 195 Clyde road at 2.15, the procession leaves at 2.30 to travel to John Rhind funeral directors, London St (at the end of Bealey Ave). Afterwards we'll head down to Pomeroys on Kilmore St to drink a toast to a good man who will be missed both here and Aberdeen.

if you never met Ewan, take it from me that you would have met him sooner than later and I will guarantee you would have got on with the man. He was a true biker and the grin on his face as he got on that Guzzi for his last ride will stay with me forever.

Today is for you Ewan.

Hi people, this is my first post on here. I am from Aberdeen and thought I would come on for a look. I find it really touching that you guys have embraced Seona and Ewan and it looks like they are well liked over there, as they were over here.

Its truly shocking whats happened, but its the risk we take for what we enjoy.

Ewan will be sorely missed from both sides of the globe.

Like has been mentioned before, you guys are representing the biking community as a large portion of us cant be there. Give him a good send off and make sure Seonas looked after.

Regards,

Akrapovic.

Today was an inspiration, and while I watched as some people farewellled a very important part of their lives I, like many present no doubt, felt the inspiration of living for now! Riding is a huge part of the lives of the people whom visit this site, and dying is the real risk we all take, whether on our bike, in our cage, or breathing the air! That is reality, and to support Seona and the wonderful, and brave people that spoke today at Ewans funeral was a gift I shall nah forget! :)
Thanks to all for accepting my hugs, making me welcome, and speaking on the behalf of us, the KB and biker community, you make us proud :) xoxoxo

Yep it was a truely wonderful way to say goodbye to Ewan. Really enjoyed the ride and the service, I think it was nicely in keeping with the way Ewan lived, great job to all involved. :2thumbsup
and i *THINK* I even managed to understand a lot of the poem without the translation Seona! :msn-wink:

I dont much like funerals, but each one attended give insight and reminds us of how precious life is, and the memory of those past.
Hugely special is this place KB and the people that came together to be there.
The service was awesome, and emotional. The photo montage was a brilliant insight to whom Ewan was. I for one love photos as they document life for those that follow behind us.
Seona much respect to you

I only met him once, and my memory comes from the Magpie 09, in pictures

Hi Guys,

I, like Akraprovic come from Aberdeen, and had the great pleasure to call Ewan a friend.
I would like to echo Akra's comments.
There are a great number of us over here that unfortunately could not be there, and I would like, on behalf of all of us, to say thank you to all the KiwiBikers that acted as 'stand ins' for the AberdeenBikers that were unable to attend, so that Ewan got the send off he so much deserved.
Having read through the forums, it looks like Ewan was getting on with everyone over there, just as he did here, he will be sadly missed.

And of course, Thank you for looking after Seona, she has many many friends here that wish they could have been there when she needed us most.

Hi folks,

We were at the 3rd of Ewan's send off's today, and were blown away by how many of you guys rolled up to the gig and done a sterling job of even having a crack (craic = doric) of going at the poems. Top marks for effort at least you chap's and chapette's had a pop at the gig!! He was a 1st class flyer in life (not materialy), but I dont think he even knew it. He was happy just helping folk (folk = people) out.

Seona, theres meny peeps here that really wished they were there to be part of the great man's send off

Top bloke, wicked smile, living life to the max!!
