Greetings people,
The oldboy has bought himself a spanking new GSX 1000, He ran it standard until it went in for its first service, at which time they installed a different exhaust, No idea what it is expect its the same pipe being offered in Aus and NZ by Suzuki dealers.
Anyway, He says its running rough sine the "upgrade", He asked if the bike was re-tuned and was told nope, The bike auto-tunes.
True?
False?
Thoughts?

i think you mean a gsxr1000?
Yes the ecu will sorta adjust itself for the slip on pipe, nothing fancy.
Talk to your local suzuki dealer, they will have a yoshi box which they can adjust the fuel map on the bike on a very basic level.
If you want to do it correctly you either need a pc3, or a teka tune.

Put the original pipe back on.
Have you seen it? Its pretty damn fugly.
Besides, He paid shit loads for the new system.
Having said that, He probably will put the standard pipe back on, Was just a little dubious in regards to the claim the bike wouldn't need any adjustment after fitting the new pipe.

No, it can't retune itself.
Correct!
Sounds like the bike needs a few ECU adjustments.
It's not quite so straight forward nowadays... with the ISCV system, you need special software to even adjust the idle speed
