Woohoo, I've started saving... Can't wait to hoon around my section without the neighbours knowing. We going to see a whole lot of new names in the motorcycle manufacturing business and wonder what the current manufacturers have planned for us... It'll be interesting to see which ones try to dictate engine type to us, like Honda tried to do.. :jerry:

When I was a kid I had a Timex, I now have a Seiko, I couldn't afford a Rolex..although I now do have an older used KTM. It will be the same for the Electrics.
The only advantage I have is I will be able to 'mod' mine to go faster than yours. :)

looks good works out to a little less than 14k inc gst but plus shipping pretty close to what a petrol bike costs but without the 5hour oil changes no airfilters no pistons valves camchains crap parts departments but awsome for the owner
battergauge where the fuel cap would be is cool . exposed belt primary drive looks a bit iffy .
any one have ideas on why electric bikes all seem to have small front wheels tech sheet says 19inch front?
wonder how much extra batterys are 2hr /25mile batt life and two hour charge time could be a little inconvenient

The way batteries are going we may see supercaps, where they are designed to fully charge in seconds and controlled to discharge in minutes. Mounting stations could top you up through induction so you wouldn't have to manually connect to the charger. MX parks will appear in the 'burbs maintained by council, if not here most certainly in Oz.
Brush up on PWM motor control and armature winding now and be ahead of the game. Motor rewinding will become a necessary artform as you would wind for maximum HP and short longevity.

I'd say you would buy a prewound "pack" that you would swap out. Looks good though. I'd have one! Top speed is a little slow, but I think that by 2013 or so, you will see these bikes take over petrol ones.

I love the way they play hip hop, or no sound at all, in these clips, because the sound of an electric bike is only the second worse sounding bike behind a 2stroke, I also hear KTM is going to making one.

wait. so will they have gears and clutch?? i just cant imagine no clutch and no gears! that would be gay!:angry2:

pffft, I fucking love the sound (and smell) of a two smoker, so I should be okay with an electric sound then  Yeh KTM have been developing one, though it has been a bit quiet on that front for almost a year now...

And you can choose your oil smell too, like aftershave, motul? or TTS, maybe spectro, all smell different, not all good though. BP super 2stroke not good. hack wheeze. (not that i use it):scooter:

Apparently the zero has more pep and longer battery life, but the zero looks daft with it's ugly square battery panel. These things are the future but unfortunately they have no soul at all. Internal combustion is magic, almost like a living thing. I won't miss cleaning air filters though.
You have to wonder what the Japanese manufacturers are up to as well. They must have their prototypes happening by now, but I guess why not let others do the major development then jump in when they figure the time's right?

what is with the ktm videos loads of stupid camera angles and footage of a nob in a suit why not just a pan around the bike then some proper fooage of it being riden

That KTM promo video gives me the impression they are spending more development time designing a stupid motor casing, airfins and all, to hide, and make difficult to modify, their technology than actual electronical performance breakthrus.
