Often there is a purple and silver BMW 650 GS parked on Featherston Street in Wellington outside the Telecom exchange. This bike passes me occasionally on the way into town from the Hutt.

Last Saturday evening, the wind had obviously got the better of it at it's usual park so a mate and myself picked it up while walking past and sadly the handlebar was bent at a right angle.

I hadn't noticed if the bike was there all week as I've been away but I did notice it parked there yesterday still with the bent bar. This morning I just whipped into town to see a man about a dog and there it is again lying in a heap.

It won't be long before it gets nicked I reckon.

It's Christmas. Get a set of handlebars, some tools and do a swap while the owner is at work. You will get that gooey feel good feeling.

I guess he must know it's there and is probably getting the bits ready to sort the problem. Maybe during the Christmas break whilst he has spare time.

I would personally have bent the bars closer to straight and ridden it home to at least leave it in a safer place.

Thiefs usually only steal bikes that aren't already rooted.

But the spare parts theifs will have a field-day :(
