I haven't looked at Stuff much for a few weeks. Too busy.

Had look while eating breakfast, and now I have tachycardia.

Britanny Murphy dead at 32 from a "Heart Attack".

A thief described as a motorcyclist. It's good in one way. We bitched about them calling us biker and they listened so now they're going to load the word "motorcyclist" with negative connotations.

98 year old rest home patient with Dementia in a "High Dependency" unit gets beaten to death over time by other patients with Dementia.

Celebrity sucks. Avoid it at all costs kids.

Far from being the Fourth Estate, the NZ media are a bunch of petty, arrogant, just plain mean children.

Don't get old in NZ. The prevailing culture doesn't support caring for the old. Your job is to start trying to beat trains at train crossings and running from cops from the age of 70 on. Oh, and calling each other bikers is now mandatory, otherwise you ride the bus.

Long time since I looked at Stuff too....

"Cow kicks Sarah Jessica Parker"... Who really needs to know about that... (sadly I did read the story and it was a tad overdramatised - to say the least!)

Stuff is a journalistic cesspool.

Don't get me started on the literary masturbation known as "the lost boys" blog.

Agree totally about the press Jim. The only disagreement is that the NZ press are any worse than overseas - the UK is excrutiating. Good investigative journalism is a dying art and don't get me started about TV news:shutup:.

However, I did have a frisson of pleasure from your comment about Brittany Murphy. Never heard of her which I must say I'm rather pleased about and is perhaps a commentary on how much I bother to read popular news.

Merry Xmas from Coromandel (proudly still stuck in the 19th century )

From what I've seen, most people who die in motorcycle accidents don't look too pretty, regardless of age.

Is it OK that I started all this at 60 instead of 70? Trouble is, y'see, I gotta run out of life before I run out of money...an' the money's going fast!

If I had the motivation (which I don't), or the literary skills (which I sure as hell don't) I'd start a commentary website on the media.

I'd would try and get a collection of specialists in their field to comment on the accuracy and stupidity within the media.

Is there many sites like this in NZ?

Working on an Oz facility I'm stuck with mostly Oz TV, and they have a good show called Mediawatch which is an eye opener. There's also a similar thing on RadioNZ which I've heard of but haven't listened to.

That the general public still take what they read/watch/listen to as gospel rather than attention seeking sensationalism beggars belief and is a sad and frustrating commentary on our culture.
