I'm not the one you want, but am looking at options for electrifying the old BMW when the engine finally goes... What are you looking at? Got plenty of links bookmarked re ebikes generally.

If you're into dirt (just re-read your sig) did you see http://evdrive.com/Emoto_project/moto_project.html ?

I think "bogan" or some name like that was doing something electric with a KR1. What are you building or planing to?

Hmmm... That's about $5k NZ of kit, without his custom mountings... Dual ETEK motors - abt $500US each, but should give abt 16hp continuous, 45 peak, the lithiums are probably $3k+ without the charger/BMS and then you've got the controller, which he doesn't say about... And all thru he's not said the KWh rating on the batteries, so no idea on runtime. Certainly a piece of art with all the CNC milling, but might drop him a line on the specifics!

Have a look at the EVAlbums website too - lotsa guys playing with ETEKs & car batteries, but you'd still need the motor+sprocket, fuses, a controller & wiring... a lot of the bikes seem to be suck-&-see, just remember the result won't be a mud-bug without significant waterproofing (but at least you're chain drive, my candidate would have to keep the shaft-drive & gearbox!)

PM me if you want to chat... least we won't get the offers of windscreen-wiper motors. Would love to see an ICE for 20Kg with a peak of 50+HP, 1 moving part **and** puts gas back in the tank while braking! - Scoffers, just remember motor HP is rated at CONTINUOUS, not peak as per ICE... peak and be 4-5 times more... and peak torque is from 0 RPMs. Just need the battery setups to become more flexible now.
