I'm not sure, never had a Yoshi they don't work well on Yamaha's and I wouldn't own much else. 600'ds are revvy and make bugger all torque so when your riding them to the limiter they do fly!:2thumbsup

Hmmmm...... got quite a few 'used to race this' pictures so here goes with the first...

This 996 Ducati was built by Two Four Italia racing and was a superb bike to ride even though it was down on power when compared to the 1000cc Superbikes I used to ride against. The Duke got eaten down longer straights but was awesome on the brakes and through the turns where it clawed the power disadvantage back....

Not sure where it is now but loved the bike even though it tried to kill me once when it ate its air filter.... Snetterton straight is the fastest in the UK and you go from flat out 6th to the brakes to set up for the first part of a left then tight right section. As i shut the throttle the bike just carried on at full power.... the foam filter had jammed the throttle butterflies..... interesting moment!

Hi Jay, if you mean me..... our number one bike was the 2004 which just had a slightly higher spec in terms of electronics and motor.

Both were running the same spec suspension with full WP rear and 25mm front, just obviously the older bike had the conventional forks which to me actually felt a tad better. There were quite a few guys in the UK that year who even when they had a full spec 2005 bike preferred the older 2003/4 spec bikes. I took a while to get the new 2005 onwards honda sorted.

I won on both bikes through the season but the number 1 bike could lap about a second quicker at most tracks

wow, interesting to hear. No one here really gave the Honda a go after Shaun Harris one on the first RR in...musta been 04? Thats a huge amount quicker over a lap! Unless its at IOM, Nurburgring of course

I guess it was also to do with feeling more at home/confident on the number 1 bike and therefore feeling i could push it further, so while it had more power it also had more effort from me....

That would be the Ohiti Rd Street Sprint here in sunny Hastings. 2.8kms of twisty stuff in just under a min. Those crests were great for the croud, but a real pain when it comes to setting up for the next corner! The Pacific club runs a few such events a year, im always there with bells on.

It was bought as a race bike and 2 were brought into the country, don't really know about the HRC parts only had it since May 09, I love it to bits although it is a bit slow on the straights against any of the 4s, but great bike to race, doesn't help that I am 110kgs lol. Bummer to crash though.

I would be keen to maybe get some susp set up done on it, do you know anyone who specializes in these sort of bikes.

Here's my trusty old Ducati 998 2002.
It was a yellow street bike when I got my hands on it and I've replaced bit by bit on it to make it better suited for the track.
The motor is still stock except for a bigger exhaust and tuned fuelmap, rated 123 bhp back in the days.
I've had it for two years now and have had mixed results with it. I still enjoy every second with it, on or off the track.

Ha ha, It is in an office, my sponsors office (sales side).
They manufacture, repair, service, rent and sell the most popular Camper van in NZ. I bet there wouldn't be a day go by you don't see one punting one of our countries many visitors around this fair land.

Kea Campers have recently moved to huge new premises in Albany, they are having a series of open days with invited VIP's culminating in a all day event on 8th Oct having the Prime Minister there to do the official opening.

They wanted 'their bike' there as a display.

very much in the "getting there" stages.
Wife and kids decided a Holiday was more important that a days racing so first round at HD will be missed. I just don't geddit but being as she mans the fort when I'm away racing best to keep her happy I guess
But it has got as far as it has entirely thanks to the folks named below
MILLARS CAR CENTRE for ponying up the money
Moto Dynamix for sourcing building then rebuilding the bike
Crown Kiwi Technical for building the suspenders
And Forbes and Davies for being kind to me with tyres .
