Any of you lads thinking of going?, looks cool and you can get into some otherwise totally off limits areas.

www.offlimits.co.nz

Check out the youtube vids .. (apart from the sales guy voice) it looks neat even for bigger bikes.

Lemme know if anyone is keen, looks like we are gonna go anyway.

I was thinking of going, but the timing is a bit inconvenient for me, and there are so many places to ride around that area, I don't feel the need to pay $90 to ride on some Mackenzie country farmland when I can do that for free on friends farms.

Would be good for the trailbikers tho, some mean country to explore.

Yup, I'm in. Will be there with the 640A in the company of a 'Berg FE450, BMW G450X, and a couple of other trailies. Got our accommodation and leave passes booked :2thumbsup We'll be driving down Friday morning.

Would be good to meet up at some stage.

That Tussock Buster doesn't look too bad either. Could be worth a look.

I see no mention of road legal stuff, so I take it these are Trail rides. About time I got the DR650 real dirty. Be interesting to see how it would go.

Definitely!, we have a friend with a house in Tekapo so we are gonna see if we can score that.

Well shit we can help you out no worries, toss us the keys and we will make the place looks lived in ... the fridge full ?? l

We are good to go, Matt our mate can't make it as he bought a new car and is flat broke so we will be staying on site in the Hilton Katmandu.

Will come up Friday night and will prolly just ride one day, not sure which one yet but I would say Saturday, decide when we get there, MTB with wifey the other day

Colin you still on?

Look forward to meeting you other fellas too.

To identify me I have a designa yello DR650 which is exactly the same but different to all the others, blue Furytex jacket, grey Fox helmet with a tiger tail on the back of it, we will be there in either my old blue and yello cut up Prado or SWB silver Mitsi Pajero.

Colin you still on?Oooh yeah! We should be difficult to confuse with anyone else: KTM 640 Adventure, Husaberg FE450, and BMW G450X... plus others. Tow vehicle is a black Beemer X5... I think. Likes his BMW's, he does!

We are staying in a house in Tekapo. We're travelling with spouses in tow, so may not do too much hanging around the venue outside riding time. Hopefully there will be cellphone reception so we can hook up though.

Hey WW was there any probs with the 450x at the brach races? I heard he was walking it back up the beach.

Yes, but not sure if it was a real issue, or rider error. He might have been missing shifts in all the noise & excitement. We couldn't get it to play up in the pits, but he didn't want to risk it. It only had a few hours on it.

They pushed it off the track and it'd roll OK for a couple of metres then lock up the rear.

One more sleep :scooter:

Thanks to topo, I've got a std 640 Enduro seat/tank/shrouds fitted, bolted straight on. 12L and about 5cm or so narrower each side than the big tank :Punk: Nordie you'd be pleased! Interesting the low point of the seat curve is slightly rearward than the A, but the top is lower and closer to the fuel cap; plus there is much less foam so overall it is lower.

The G450X appears to be just minor niggles, sticky clutch plates etc. He's using a different oil and made a couple of adjustments, apparently they can be a bit finicky and there's lots of tweaks that can be done. Doesn't appear to be anything mechanically serious wrong with it.

Doesn't the 450 have the clutch on the crank?
Very picky with adjustments as David Knight found.

Narrower tank is good.

Dunno, but he's been reading/researching/talking to dealers; will mention it. He didn't have any issues in that regard during the weekend, did some suspension tuning and bar positioning, he's a much happier chappie now.
