I bought this thing about a year ago, at $50 I couldn't resist. Came with the top end in a box with assorted other bits after seizing a piston, the rest of it didn't look too bad.
I figured I might as well do the job properly so stripped it to a bare frame and cleaned and/or painted everything as it went back together, on the way fitting new fork seals and boots, wheel bearings and brake shoes, swingarm bearings and shock linkage bushes (courtesy of my father and his lathe)
Engine went to my uncles and returned bored 1mm over, rod end honed and ready for assembly. It went together well except for the camchain tensioner pivot bush being missing from the box of bits, a trip to the honda shop and a new one obtained. Neutral light not working so side cover off and a new contact made for the gearshaft.
Motor fired up after very little effort and everything looked good, except for the large puddle of oil forming underneath from a hole in the crankcase that wasn't there when I put it in the frame. Eventually found that the tensioner bush wasn't missing after all, just hiding inside. Motor out of frame, hole fixed with metal/epoxy putty stuff, motor back in and running.
Finally got around to getting new chain and sprockets, brake and clutch levers and battery, assembled the remaining bits left over, fired it up tonight and took it for it's first ride up the road and back (and up and back etc etc). Everything looking good except for a slightly iffy noise in 2nd gear, so I'll see how it goes and if need be strip it again and fix the leaking final drive seal while I'm there.
I has my xmas present, time to go playing in the dirt. :2thumbsup
