View Full Version : 23 Jan - sponsored Christchurch public education event

The Lone Rider
26th December 2009, 09:06
This event is not limited to people who own bikes.

The proposed changes to ACC are not just about motorcycles - sexual abuse victims, employees, employers and more will suffer under the proposed changes.

There will be food, bikes on display, a clown for the kids, and people spreading the love on what ACC is up to.

10:30am at Repco Northwood, corner of Radcliffe and Main North Road.

Hope to see everyone there!

You can log your attendance in the following link in the calendar

invite your mates including non-bikers who like bikes. And if you have a nice bike, polish her up and bring it along so we've got something for people to admire. I'll be bringing my T Bird.

It is a shame that this clashes with the rangiora car show...But will try get our group to meet at Repco instead to try and support the cause!!!!

Well ya should be able to make both eh?

As this starts at 10:30 you could stay until around lunch and maybe we'll end up organizing a ride to Rangi.

Is a good point though, don't think any of us thought of the car show (I know I don't think about car shows!)

maybe a bit late now to worry about the clash.
been_there.......do you want an acc protest car parking poster

I don't mind my name being on the attendance roll for this event as I will go if possible. But here's the problem. 'I never put it there.' This happened once before for an event to be held in Auckland. An event that I had little interest in. I made enquiries to a mod at one of the KB rallies and was assured that this could not happen. Well it can and has happened again. So what's going on here.??

since when does car shows shadow bikers rights and what we are fighting for, this may upset a few people but fuck the car show! :finger:

Understand....but you want the public to also be on side and car owners etc. More support the better right?
I have been on all the protest rides and will continue to do so, never thought otherwise. Just wanted to inform you of the date clash in which a good number of the general public will attend.
A ride to the show is a good idea, well thats what we are doing anyway

Why not have a chat to the car show organisers and see if you can have a wee presence at their show passing out the 'Who's next?" message there? Ideal opportunity to preach to the masses.

Only 10 Kb people down to come? Suddenly nobody cares about ACC?

Things are progressing well on the organizing side, I'd hate for people to miss out!

Also, the same folk who brought you the massive protest run on Dec 5 have got together and have more to come. You can check out the website at http://apeg.webs.com

The Lone Rider

Thanks to all that came. Well more than listed in the attendance- got to talk to lots and lots of people. All the petition sheets were full, and so we moved to the back of the sheets and half of those are full.

Seems Joe Public does care, they just don't know enough about it all nor do they know what they can do about it.

just to add, the shop staff were getting a lot questions which were referred back to us, I also wish to thank all those that came along or helped. I think the Group achieved want it aimed to do with this event and was raise public awareness of want is to come.

Well, seemed to go OK - even tho I only got there late & managed to almost stuff-up the day it was on... Great Repco were happy with it too, seemed a very good spot. No negativity towards the bigger "front page" rides" either, but we'll need some of these ower-key chipping-away sort of events - lots of people generally (and genuinely) worried about ACC and it's direction eg most hadn't heard of the new rules re the skifield operators (staff levies up 80%, guessing because they don't want ACC to be directly seen as levying sports - or they can't work out a way of doing it - so they levy the business instead) so that will be one to cover going into winter!

Oh ... and don't get them started on the Nats, gawd that was really poking the hornets nest!
