Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has come across any lightweight motorcycle jackets, that are fitting and not bulky. The reason I ask is that I currently have a fully padded/armored synthetic jacket, but its too bulky for when I pop into town and out to uni etc. Just wanting something lightweight, but that wont be as usless as a parka if I happened to come off. Just one for around town use only.

If anyone knows of any, or a place to get any, I would be keen to know.

Thanks heaps

Bit pricey...
That is more of a full use jacket, just wanting something for only around town use, dont plan on going out of town with it on.
Thanks though

For very similar reasons to those you describe I wanted another jacket, wound up buying leather.

I'm broadminded, got textile touring gear, kinky leather gear, and retro chic
Belstaffs (which may or may not fit :-)

I have been using a sturdy thick cotton (quilted & lined) hunters jacket that's been great, so much so it's really past it now. I looked at the mesh number that was being peddled by the MV Augusta people but it gave NO wind protection and was around $600. So now I have yet another quilted & lined cotton hunter's jacket with a leather collar and leather elbow pads; $17 at the New Plymouth Sallies. Yep, not a specialised riding jacket but good enough protection at town speeds.

I rate the Teknics mesh jackets. I brought one from Sawyers a few months back, and it's awesome. Looks good if your walking around town and offers all protection of the road. Feels really lightweight if you remove the inner.
These jackets cost around 400-500 though.

On the subject,,
Where can one buy one of those transparent lightweight raincoats designed for over your leathers like the GP boys use?
