I was about to download a video from You Tube, and I suddenly wondered if this was legal.

I had a read of the terms and conditions:
http://www.youtube.com/t/terms
But it still isn't completely clear to me. Section 5(b) seems to have the meat in it.

After reading it several times, my impression is the licence only allows you to stream the video for personal use.

Is this how you guys read it?

Most copyright rulings come down to 'intent' - regardless of the wording.

Are you copying and using other peoples stuff for profit or personal gain. Bad.

For your own amusement - s'ok.

Look up 'fair use' too.

I use download helper. Its a firefox plug in.

It even allows me to download videos from websites containing objectionable content. Not that I do that of course:whistle:
