Well this could be rubbish but no one qualified has yet to say so.

Anyone qualified to comment?

I'm not a qualified Physician.
Quite a few years ago my Father had a heart attack while driving up Birkdale road, he went unconcious at the wheel and crashed into the living room of some poor old lady in a rest home. She wasnt hurt.

In hospital he said the very last thing he could remember was that he was having a terrible coughing fit while he was driving. So, I don't think it helped much in his case.

The only person genuinely qualified in the field I know has DNR tattooed on her chest.

Take from that what you will...

They say false but maybe feasible in isolated specific cases.

As someone who has had a bunch of heart attacks, I am pretty dubious. The pain is such that the idea of trying to cough deeply etc isnt likely. I would get on the cellphone and dial 111

How to survive a heart attack

Best Idea is not to have one to start with, other Idea is to hope your with in reach of a cardiac care unit within the hour, more survivable if your with in 10 mins ....thats asuming that someone has found you within 1 min of you collapsing then you have about an 18-20 % chance of surviving...mind you most people survive heart attacks its the cardiac arrests that are the killa`s

as some know when a heart attack occurs its usually due to a blockage of an artery/vein that causes part of the heart muscle to die due to lack of oxygenated blood caused by the blockage....as the muscle dies...you feel pain(feel free to correct me if I`m wrong).

there are other types of heart attacks that are fatal and you don't come back from, I am not that knowledgeable to name them.
Also if you go into cardiac arrest (heart failure) from any type of trauma injury ...you are as good as dead.

Just asked my wifey who is a Dr, she says that it sounds like ones best option of surviving a heart attack, of course it depends on the severity which can be from mild to immediately fatal. She also said that the coughing would help stimulate your receptors in the brain. Of course, you could always carry the magic glyceryl trinitrate spray and slip it under the tongue at onset...but of course we all have these just hanging around don't we....
