And check the comments at the bottom.

I studied American History / Constitution a long time back and one thing I have always remembered is: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety" (Franklin). I think this applies to freedom everywhere in every aspect.

There ya go - thinking for yourself again. You really have to stop that if you are going to fit in, unless you actually want to be an individual???

Let's hear your thoughts on that wise guy :niceone:

PS, they've had a lot more practice in the UK at destroying cameras.

I feel a Python quote coming on...

as for blowing up speed cameras - what a brilliant way to raise taxes. What do those things cost... $60k each? And the money comes from... where? The GUBBERNMENT!... and they get their money from???

I'm all for protest where there is a genuine cause, but those actions are more than just a little self defeating.

I wonder if there was an alternative that made sure only OTHER people got ticketted... there must be a way... surely. Any ideas out there? Any ideas at all?

I would suggest a non damaging method of disabling them would be more effective - spray paint over the lens.

You wouldnt be able to see it unless your looking for it so it'd have more of a chance of staying disabled before it gets fixed.

The low cost of the repair means if u get snapped (hehe) the fine will be way down.

A really dumb way of doing it!

A few years ago, one of the Brit glory sports bike mags gave a sticker sheet away as a freebie- included way a sticker for applying to the lense covering of the camera unit... Also mention on said sheet that it was intended as a joke, and was to be no way condoned- as if?!

Anti-Vandal paint would be best. Stuff doesn't dry but hard as hell to get off the camara.

Not that many fixed speed cameras around. And there are significant ethical complications involved with blowing up a manned mobile speed camera van.

The 'essential liberty' here being?:wait:

Not so much the speed cameras, but all of this CCTV stuff that is going on everywhere these days has got some serious potential for curtailing the privacy of the individual.

When the authorities fail to convince the population that speed cameras are anything but a round-about tax, then it is no wonder that some people take matters into their own hands. Civil disobedience is in some cases the only realistic way of getting anything done.

Well, it'd still be vandalism of public property - as such the fine and potential legal implications probably wouldn't be too different.

Always remember that you are unique, just like everybody else!

You are all individuals.

We are all individuals.

I'm not!

no. if you go break a house window or the windscreen of 20 new porches at the dealer you will not get the same punishment.

Funny to think this person thinks he has the right to speed or perhaps set off an explosive device or even damage public property. What a looser.

Man I bet the cops have fun with them when they catch them.

Lets face it "speed camera operator" gets about as much sympathy as parking warden, tow truck driver, or IRD employee.

I say blow em up :-P
