I'm hoping to do it but the first round of the enduro nationals/TTR is the day before at the same place. the last special is an "extreme section" so I'll see how I am at the end of the day. It would be a bloody hard weekend doing both days but it is Auckland Anniversary Stat holiday on the Monday so there is some recovery time!

Ive rode on this property a few times now. Plenty of looong steeep hillclimbs, wet bush hillclimbs and a rocky river bed. Have no idea where on the farm where they re holding this event but it should be a goodie. I remember that the owners son is a hell of a rider, we watched him climb the hill visible from the pits.No on else managed it.

I think I pushed a wrong button before I'm not sure where my post went.
Anyway, would you compare this doing wires in reverse? or harder than that? I look at the likes of the Ezburg with the 2m high drop offs that you have to jump and that shit would scare the shit out of me. I'm kind of keen on this, but worried that my skills would fall far short and my fitness even more so. It would be one of those rides my goal would be to finish!! LOL
Pity its so short notice too. Its not a lot of time to prepare!

Well I watched the Extreme special test after last years enduro & it was pretty rough, think 4 metre near vertical drop into creek with 1.5 metre vertical bank on exit. There were bikes 2 metres up in trees ( John R., way spectacular ), alot of problems with the exit. It looked tough, real tough.
I'm not real sure I want to see what Sean Clarke would call tough, thankfully I won't have a choice I'll be away with work. If I was here I'd do the enduro on Saturday & go watch the extreme stuff ( awesome enduro as an aside ).

Extreme enduos are ment to be hard, with only a few finishing. I guess thats why they do the buddy system for people who want to give it a go, at least then you have someone to help if you get really stuck. I'm still keen if someone wants to try (come on barty!!) and I can fit it in.
On a side note, all those boys that spent the winter ridding the coro ranges, and telling me Mr motocycle rides aren't changling enough for them. I expect to see you down there on the start line, not hidding behind weak excusses!!!

Yea true about only few might finish, but all the stuff I've been riding in coro is challenging but not 'fuck your bike and yourself if you fail' hard. Namely 4m drop's I haven't had much practice at all with speed + air, getting up the other side not so bad, I know how to ghost alright

4m NEAR vert he said, and it might not even be in the course. Come on you ride a KTM don't they do it for you!!!
It says it gets harder as it goes on, so if you come accross something too much for you thats where you end the race, it's only a bit of fun. They might never do an extreme race here again.

We can all take a litre bottle of water each and drop them at 1km intervals for JT! Haha! (Not that I'll be in front of him)
Just have to keep moving or hope there's clean puddles and river crossings.

Was a brutal event some of my bike is destroyed at one point I was sliding down hills with the bike sliding next to me, was absolutely insane but that’s what it was supposed to be, we got as far as we could the skies opened up and the track was halfway down the bank and that was our race over. The only down side was after 2 hours of hell and insane terrain we got to the road, were you had a choice to turn to go back to car park or carry on up the most mental hill ever, most bikes turned to the car park but we pushed on, the only way down was down a vertical bank and it was vertical, anyway spectators had gathered and we decided to lower the bikes down on strops just to get down to the bottom in one piece the reaction of the crowd was not the best and if you haven’t got the balls to ride and have no idea what we had gone through to get the bikes that far in one piece you should shut the hell up. They had gathered there just to see the bikes/riders end up head first in the river I’m all for watching the chaos but when it doesn’t happen to turn to abuse is just wrong.
But a big up to the organizers can’t wait for the next one.

Ye that was nuts even tho I only got to do a small portion of it.. weren't long into it and marshalls caught up to us after some hill climbs and reckoned we wouldn't be able to do the tougher hills so diverted us to the middle of the loop with a big grassy terraced fuck off hill. Had a go getting up, you had to zigzag it, only got half way, man I have a new appreciation for the skills of the guns, they were making it look easy.
Organisers did a good job definitely extreme and the rain made it crazy, wonder if chrisktm can tell us how it compares to the ones overseas.. piece of piss? lol
Yea daf thats off mayb they should have tried to ride some
Bit dissapointed to not try the groveling stuff but maybe a good thing by the sounds of it lol... i need more practice

Major :niceone::niceone::niceone: Dafydd, sounds really rough so damn well done for getting as far as you did.
That sucks about the crowd, though those that can do, those that can't watch & to make two hours is impressive, I kinda had a suspicion after watching last years extreme test that it might be a bit rugged.

awsome event great stuff daf to get so far the point of those drops wasnt to ride down we were all told to lower or throw our bikes off when we got to them . The skys truly opend up later in the day great effort for all who entered. I was way over my head mnot enough skill not fit enough etc etc .Pulled something in my groin near the start so was actually fairly glad to be diverted ,definitly looking forward to haveing anothe rgo next year with a bit more preperation .
I think less that 15 people mad ethe first section in the 2hours , no one was even ready when Birch finished he had to go do the last section again so they could wave the flag and take a pic. which was pretty cool so got to see the master jumping out of the creek twice

Noobie / Phil & Me all went down for our first ever national enduro on Saturday.
We were unsure how hard it would be and on the way to the event we spotted some arrows which appeared to be on a near verticle hill and we all looked at each other and went WTF ??
Then it occured to us this was most likely for the Sunday event ...
Anyway ....
We didnt really have a clue what to do but the organisers were awesome and gave us an idiots guide to what to do and how to do it.
The 3 of us started on the same minute but hadnt really warmed up by the first special stage which did make it harder than it really was.
About 4 k into the 105k enduro, we were going down a pretty steep hill , when Noobies rh bar hooked into my lh bar, All I remember was thinking , this has the potential to be a fuck up,,,,,
Both of us over the handlebars tumbling down the hill, I was lucky enough to break the fall of the KTM hitting the ground by putting my body between it and the ground....(andf I think Noodbie as he was unscathed)
All I can say is it ihad so much potential for a "westpack rescue helicopter" moment...
Noobie kept going and I was fortunatly only winded and bruised.
The marshalls were pretty much there straight away, I said I was ok but needed to rest for a few minutes, went into shock blabla .....they seemed to think someone on a suzuki clipped Noobie and pushed him into me..So cheers for that, could have passed another 100ms down the track and never risked killing anyone ...
Took some harden the fuck up pills and carried on...
Anyway, I did the first two stages but my elbows were both so sore I really couldnt ride, the rh one looked like it had been plugged into the compressed air.
I must have landed on my ass somewhere during this as I have bruised my tailbone too, so everytime I tried to site down or everytime the seat wacked me I nearly bust into tears....
Pulled the pin when we arrived at the pits...
Anyway, Noobie plodded on and completed the event , so Big thumbs up ...
Really well run event with (From what I rode ) AWESOME terrain....
Really liked all the water crossings and the steep stuff.....(Might not of if it was wet)
So points for the Noobie, but not me :(
4 weeks to recover till round 2

Well done to the guys that had a go!
If Daf says it's hard.... That means real hard!!! I shudder to think really.
Would've loved to come and had a go at it. Are they planning to do more?
I guess we could just organise a ride in Coro with Daf and crew?
8 finishers! That's madness in itself.

Good on ya Daf and the others for giving it a go! Looks bloody hard.
Mind you if Chris Birch finished it and did a bit of the final stage again not impossible (well for him) LOL!!
I'd also be keen to hear how it rated by world standards. Someone that knows him, might have to txt him to comment I haven't seen him on here for a while!

Was a great event... Will need to prepare a little more for next year. Some really nutty terrain.
Ended up breaking my finger on a tree, hand swelled up like crazy, bloody mish to get out not being able to use break or throttle properly. Always use barkbusters.
Also like to send a big 'fuck you' to some guy on a ktm who smashed me and my bike off a cliff and rode off, costing me at least 20-30 min and a lot of energy

It was about as hard as half of one day at Red Bull Romaniacs. The big difference is that the ground was so soft it cut out very quickly making it a lot harder for guys at the back. It was a brilliant event and good on everyone who gave it a shot!
Im in Italy now for Hells Gate and its 1 degree above freezing, snow everywhere and its going to be a proper hard race. Credit card just maxed out three days into a three week trip!!! Gulp.

Does anyone have any photos of the No way in Hell?
I rode in it, and the exact same thing happened to my bike as dafydd's - gear lever bent to the foot peg. Would have happened around the 15km mark also. At the top of the long rutted hill.

Can you see if you have any photos of 43, 44 or 45. Thats my brothers and I. I also had 725 on side number plates. They are all red CRFs
Thanks
We didnt really make it very far. Next time Ill know to take extra anti boil. By the time I got the top of the first major hill my bike was cooking. Had to fill it with powerade.

I've seen a few CRF's cook when it get's a bit tight, a bit like the KTM's with the thermostat still in.
Dunno if you can get it in NZ, but Spectro make a decent coolant ( Scott Summers recommended it in his husky writeup ), he was running a higher pressure cap as well ( 1.8 ).
