I may have a Gen2 Hayabusa coming my way s/h soon but, it's still got the original exhausts .........this is a subject that's been dealt with countless times I know but not very recently ...my question;..... I'll need to get some new cans, pref Yoshi but I'm open to suggestions. The exchange rate has worked in our favour so ..... any ideas ??? I'm loath to purchase from a Dealer ...:(

Ebay is your friend.
I recently bought a Yoshi pipe, Power Commander III and a K&N air filteroff Ebay. All up, including GST and shipping, I was still in the green compared to buying JUST the Yoshi pipe here in NZ.
I'll happily buy in NZ, when they don't try to arse-rape every cent I make out of me at each opportunity they get.

You're on the right track. Go for quality rather than cheap.

You get what you pay for. Go the whole hog and buy a good full system (Akrapovic, Leo Vince, Arata, Yoshi etc) and reap some real rewards. And go for a single can system to maximise the weight loss, your bike will be transformed.

Yeah I myself have been looking at mufflers for my VTR but not sure what brand is best for my bike. So far the Two Bros look good as I understnd you don't have to re-jet your carbs or do any other modifications to the bike?

If you don't have to rejet anything then chances are you won't change the power delivery, just the noise output. If that's all you are after then it's all good, just don't expect to feel much difference with the pants-o-meter apart from losing a bit of weight.

I have a mate with a full Akrapovic 4 into 1 on his, super light and not overly loud. The Gen 2s' have really heavy mufflers, just like having a Bulldozer bolted to each side. G.

Exactly, and the principal reasons I'll need to change the cans is 1 .. The weight factor and 2 ..the looks , goddam the original pipes are ugly..the performance benifits are secondary. Thanks for the advice from you guy's so-far, as I type I'm in a cyber-cafe in Nelson on Holiday and I'm looking at a bunch of three young guys swarming all over my pretty-in-black '06 'Busa parked on the street outside....signing off , running out of coins and I'm late for the Fckn Barbie in Motueka ...on my Bike :niceone:

You'd better have a listen to mine. Put Two Bros titanium on a while ago - pretty loud. Have not had the bike tuned yet and it's running fine although I may get the shop to take a look next time it's in there. Seat of the pants feeling is more ergs down low though not convinced there's any more later on up the range - so maybe it does need a little doctoring...

That would be the pipes with the blunt magnesium ends? I should get around to having a look some time.

The ECU connection software will have a list of supported devices and adjust the set up for that particular exhasut.
Best to check the list before buying, though most are so similar that it won't be an issue.

Yep, just be careful with the gaskets/seals where the mids hook up - you should be able to reuse them if careful.

Right at this stage I'm looking at getting the M-2 Aluminum canisters from here http://www.motocrossparts.co.nz/motoxspares.php?category=93&brand=94&page=3&piece=930 Had a look at some of the other sites people have posted here but not sure what the cost for shipping will be and pricing looked close to what Motocrossparts offers. Anyone know of any other places here in NZ that does exhausts cheaper?

Depending on what you get you may not need any gaskets. I puchased a full yoshi and there are no gaskets at all from the exhaust ports/headers to can.

Don't forget to add tax on arrival that you may or may not get stung with. Mine didn't slip through, even paid tax on a part they forgot to ship! +1 for JC Motor's customer service once I contacted them though.
BTW there is no duty on motorcycle parts just GST.

Well the I've just gone for the Aluminum M2 as I got a call from Motocrossparts this morning that Two Brothers just made the cans yesterday, do exhaust campanies normaly make them as they're ordered?
I've ordered also the sound Supperssion Tips so I can warm my bike in the early hours without waking the entire neighbourhood!
Will post photos and a mini review when I successfully install the pipes.

What do the tips cost? Be interested to see what the difference is - mine's pretty loud without them...
