Hi, I've rebuilt an old 82 GSX400L which lay for 8 years in a shed so needed quite a bit of freshening up, I have it all go now, WOF/VIN/REG and it goes great.
Now for my question, on the dash there are 5 lights, Indicators, Oil, Neutral, Hi beam......and the mystery one?
It is written in Japanese characters and only lit up today at 80k in 4th gear, stayed on in 5th then went out in 6th, does this model have an over rev limit warning device?
Any other ideas?...........Hush.

Might be worth posting a photo of the Japanese characters - there's at least two here that might be able to decipher them for you. (Assuming nobody knows the answer off hand.)

its a speed warning light, was a japanese requirement back in the 80's.

now they are smarter and have a speed restricter instead:weep:

if you dont like it,just take the bulb out,i wont tell anyone:oi-grr:

Here is the best I can do for a copy, I'd love to know what it says.
