I have a love of efficiency and simplicity.
I love my Suzi DR650... but she isn't simple or terribly efficient.
So in the category idle silly season speckled-u-lation I'm wondering...
* Which is the simplist motorbike bike capable of cruising at 100kph available in NZ?
Alternatively..
* Which is the most fuel efficient motorbike capable of 100kph available in NZ?
I have a funny feeling both questions will be answered by "classic/vintage bikers"...

Air cooled singles are the most simple, especially 2 strokes.
GN250 is one of the most simple otherwise. :)

. . . Which is the most fuel efficient motorbike capable of 100kph available in NZ? . . .
My DR250 does around 3 L / 100 KM. It's fairly simple as an oilcooled machine to. Does 100 KM/H but probably not as comfortably as your 650.

That is meaningless without knowing the size of the tank. I could probably squeeze 380km out of a tank on my Bandit and that's only at 19km/l

My DR500 does 25km/l and will cruise at 100kph easily (4l per 100km if you are no good at math), especially now that I have fitted a much bigger front sprocket for the road - 16 tooth. 100kph is 4500 rpm, its sweet spot is 4000 = 90kph or so. And it is still not high geared - it will surge ahead when opening the throttle at 100.

BMW F650GS pre-2007 or G650GS (single) 17.3L tank will go about 400+ kms, fairly simple.
Suzuki DL650 22L tank - good for 400+ kms, not extactly simple.
Neither are off roaders but I have seen the F650GS used for such with the right rubber.
