Is it possible to find out who has been awarded the "WORST ENGINEERED BUCKET" trophy since Ray Wilson on his TF 100 was awarded it in 1997-98? I am wanting to get the engraving up to date.

I don't know but make sure Bayden Sprozen's name is on there somewhere. Oh and Ivan Juggins and at a push Kyle Hammond :D

heeeheee i remember Rays bike (28 in the photo below), actually it was quite classy (I can't quite remember the reason behind him winning the award that year; so long ago). I would have thought Morleys bikes would have been much deserving....

I was raceing Ray at manfield a few years ago. He dfn'd because his flywheel came off and nearly hit Pete Sales who was flagging.
They used to have the 'concourse d crap heap' award at Ohakea. I think the year Chris Sherriffs won the GP on the shittiest looking (4 stroke) he also won that award. Steve Diprose won the 'best burnout' prize (I think) the same year. His bike wouldn't start so he pulled the carb apart and in so doing spilt some fuel. He then checked for spark by earthing the plug next to the motor and turning the wheel. The gas cought fire and shot a flame into his beard which also cought fire. Great stuff!!!

Sully got it in 2008, or something along those lines.

Sully got it in 2008. What was a shock to me!.
Wrong trophy - this is 'The Worst Engineered Bucket' trophy which has been missing for a number of years. It was found and returned to me last year. It appears to have been a Manawatu region trophy.

I wudda thought AJ would have that one sewn up fully. He's presented the worst bike for scrutineering at two TRRS's consecutively.

Yeah, but he didn't turn up at any race meets with them during the year. All4a50's got it by falling apart before it even got out of the van.

At the early Ohakea GPs it would have been a bit hard to actually pick a winner for this.

Morley was a definite contender at the later ones. He'd turn up late, with a bike he made up out of bits in the old farm shed the night before in the dark with a box of ignition bits he hoped would provide some combination of bits to make a spark. Somehow he'd get it going half way through the last practice and do a couple of laps and then go and win the main races.

His 4-stroke that won the GP dropped a valve the next time they started it and just had it idling in the driveway. I don't recall which Shirriff rode it but I do remember commenting to him about how he flew past me in the race. Typically the response was something like "I just toss it into the corners and give it the gas". Apart from the bike not much has changed.

It has pride of place on the piano and I'm debating about putting up a shelf :).

I think yours is the best one though, George. I mean doing the scutineering while it was in the van, I just touched the chamber and it broke off at the header, falling to the floor,....

You would have to be a braver man than me.

The SI crowd turned up to one GP with a 125 honda that they had not really got going properly yet. The night before the GP they were working on it in Yak Knight's garage I think. It would fire up but only run momentarily but then stop. Put a fresh plug in and it would just repeat. There were a few red faces when it was finally figured out that the plastisene they used to check valve clearances was still in the cylinder.

HARUMPH! That was not the award he got...it was the most unreliable and I would like to point out that the bloody thing ran beautifully throughout the enduro at the end of that year...(coming second too) unlike some other 'engineered' machines :pokey:
