I found this PDA style for vBulletin V4:

I've found another great add on to go with the PDA style:

It selects the PDA style based on the browsing device. So if you use a PDA, it will automatically select the PDA style.

The PDA style is so much faster because it doesn't implement all of the vBulletin features, and I think rep is an add on, meaning it is even less likely to be supported.

I wonder if it might be an idea to create an extra domain, like m.kiwibiker.co.nz, and force that to use the PDA style, so users can select which method.

On the whole, the PDA style is so much better to use I would much prefer to go without the extra features for the huge improvement in usability. It is a lot nicer to use now.

Perhaps we might be better creating a list of "most wanted PDA style features", and then have SpankMe post a comment on the original style download site making a request to the author.

To be honest, I think it works so well now I personally wouldn't want to much fucking around to be done with it to solve an issue only one person has. No disrespect intended.

Yep figured that was what the deal was, however I still can't figure out how to get to the first unread post in a thread, which is kind of important to most. Being able to choose between the old usual style and the PDA style would be good as often it's the only way for me to access KB and if I can't give people bling they may think I don't love them anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's fantastic, so fast to load and stuff, but being able to flick between styles would be good too.

Seriously. Before, KB was fine on Safari or Opera under WM 6.5. Now it's just total crap. It effectively means that using a PDA is not an option except in emergency. F' Gawds sake, either put it back like it was or give users the option to use the munted orphan child style or not.

I meant non-crippled in terms of functionality and speed and things like integration with youtube, not non-crippled as in the choice to run a range of mediocre browsers.

IMHO if we can prevent the auto detect feature and let us pda users choose pda or full html style on a time by time basis we will stop screaming.

I barely use 3G to access data. Home, work, missus' place, other work all have wifi networks I can hook up to so if I feel inclined to check out KB, the larger Dark Zone doesn't bother me. Functionally, I like the standard Dark Zone better. As others have suggested, is it possible to allow the user to select the full version after the phone has autodetected and taken me to the mobile version?

+1 on this one, add a sub domain and people can choose which address and hence which layout want to use.

You can choose the mobile style from the style picker in the bottom left, and there is a link to go back to the dark style from the mobile style.
