Everything is go down at Methven, we have a permit number, the track looks good, even some esses through the back section. A cool track for spectators as well.

The formula Methven class is to be an invite only F1 class . It is the first of what we hope will be an annual affair at Methven. As CAMS is a classic/post classic club, that is what our priority regards classes is. Maybe in future years, all going according to plan, we can include more classes,eg F3, BEARS, but at the moment this year is running these classes only.

Classic/Pre 63
Pre 72
Pre 82
Pre 89
Miniature Road Race (Buckets)
Super Motard
Formula Methven (F1, Invite Only)

Classes will not exceed 35 machines per class, F1, 18 machines.

Entries will be posted on the CAMS site soon http://www.cams-racing.org.nz

Methven is a quiet Canterbury town tucked under the foothills to the Alps and is about an hour from Chch and 40 minutes from Ashburton, it caters to a lot of ski and winter sports people and there is a couple of good pubs and a fair bit of accomodation for those interested

Sorry scorry, rumours that not even I have heard. Circuit is very central to business/housing part of town. We can talk about that for next year, (if), keeping it real simple this time around.

We are running this race meeting with the Methven LIONS, things are going quite smoothly at the moment, as far as the organizing of the day, considering they have not done this before, and CAMS hasn't done this for a while, Rakaia, was the last time. We aim to give the crowd a good day of motorcycle racing in the safest and most organized way we can.

We are running seven classes, one classic, three post classic ,buckets, motards ,all of which are limited to 35 per grid,CAMS members get preference over other entries. First 35 entries in are it. The F1 class has been limited to 18 riders. We new we would have to send back a lot of entries for this class if it were open to all . A couple of F1 riders of repute were asked to help on the difficult task of guiding us on those they considered should be invited. We have a list and we are sorry if you wish to be, or thought you should be on it, and you aren't . (thats all she wrote)

...been getting a few emails , phone calls, word in yer ear, type shit from a lot of interested or pissed off people. Mainly to do with classes racing on the day. ...so here is a little more reiteration of the finer points of the meeting.....1) CAMS are the club running this meeting, we are the club that runs older bikes, hence the name Classic Action Motorcycle Sport Inc, we are generally the club that turns up to Street Race Meetings, have a cool collection of older machines that Joe Public just love to see on the track, love to hang around in the pits, drooling over our bikes, and promoting motorcycle sport is a big part of our ethos, we are also the club that often get their classes pulled so that the meeting can finish on time or where all our classes are grouped together so that faster more modern machinery are tripping over our older classics or where the classics have been thrown in with the buckets, 'cos some twat doesn't really give a fuck about us as a club. Back to 1) This is a CAMS meeting

2) The invitation F1 class is there as the Modern ,Premier Class, Joe Public likes to see that kind of stuff too. There is only room for 18. Real hard to fit 40 or 50 into 18, doesn't work.

3)Joe Public really loves Motards, really, really, really loves Motards, beats me, but they do.

4) The Miniature Road Race Class (Buckets),are a popular class at most events and put on a spectacular and entertaining show, they are also closely linked to CAMS in general club day stuff.

These are our classes, seven on the day, we intend to get through the day with all rounds being completed for all classes with a couple of feature races at the latter part of the day.

I have had it that we are running an unbalanced meeting.... as far as we are concerned it is balanced perfectly...

Joe Public is what these street meetings are about, entertaining them, promoting to them, keeping them safe.

CAMS is not here to bow down to any tom dick or harry that thinks things should be run their way, because they have a faster bike or bigger ego or are just fucked off that they cant race in a class that isn't there.

As far as a lot of our club members are concerned the premier class is the one, they ,are riding in.

If you feel you must race at this meeting , borrow a PC or even a Classic, or a bucket.

or ill have to get a bucket............. I wouldnt expect more in the future, ya dont see classics at the nats do ya, invites you must relise anr for two main reasons, 1st for those riders that if they had not put so much effort into street racing then it would not exist which mean we would not be having this chat, 2nd for the intertainment for the spectators, again with out them there would be no racing, as an aded bonus to knowbodys like me they get to see some of the fastest knowen riders and bikes race, riders that know street racing as the last thing CAMS need is joe knob on a GSXR causing greif.

People like the retards so they get a class and CAMS suport buckets and have the largest numbers so understandably they get a class aswell... so yeah, ya beter get a bucket.

fair nuf. If you can run a sustainable, sucessful meeting with what you got then good for the CAMS crew, any racing is better than no racing. Look at BEARS, they manage to hold the biggest SI meeting (in my opinion) and exclude large portions of the racing community.

I merely hope that it gets extended cause id like to race there. bit of jealousy haha.
