So... I have been looking for a while for a cheap FXR (close to auckland) to pick up and make a bucket out of. It seems however that nobody has one for sale. Is it worth buying one of the perfectly road legal working ones off tardme and ripping it all down to a bucket?
Would I be better off starting a project with a rs250/rgv250 frame?
What would be a good donor engine for a 250 frame?

An RGV250 VG22 would be suitable for either of those options:clap:
Heck you could squeeze in an RG500 if you could find one.

Don't think i'd get away with a RG500 or RGV engine for a bucket though :p
would raise a few eyebrows, 130 down the back straight of mt welliy track

Yeah I've inspected the grass berm there, I think a 500 would punch through it.

With bucket gearing, you'd have a unicycle with a spare wheel attached to the front !!!

Why don't you look at getting an RX125, CBR125, H or MB100 and stripping it down or look at buying a bucket all ready in existence, which you can pick up for 500-1000? Alot can still be said for the old 2-smokers. Most of which is good.

Have been considering it, but i really cant seem to find one that is close to me for sale. Im probably just useless at looking though.
Wouldn't mind a cheapie but also want something that i can be quite competitive on for future without having to buy a new bike

If you haven't got anything sorted by the next Mt Welly meet catch up with me in the pits. Playing with the idea of getting rid of my old CB125S but not sure yet.
