I have finally moved on from my GN 250 to a Triumph Speed Four !!.
After I have been riding for 11 months its great to have a bigger bike.
I have been looking at the 600 range for a few months, as shown on my thread GSF600 Bandit / SV650 / 650 CS / Comet 650 ???, I was introduced to the speed 4 a couple of weeks ago and was hooked.
And I Don’t know why?? It was just more fun to ride than any of the others I have test ridden. I found cornering easy on the SV650 but I kept sliding up the seat to the tank when braking, but with the speed 4 I just hug the tank, and for my height my feet touch the ground nice and comfort like at the lights. Plus I do like the idea of a Triumph, again for a reason I can’t really explain.
Through the power is still intimidating, from 17 hsp on the GN, to lots on in inline 4 and I am taking it very carefully at the moment. (only had the speed four for 2 weeks)
I went on my first RAT ride on the weekend and really enjoyed it, even if I was the slowest by quite a margin and was on my own for quite a bit the club was supportive of me going my own pace and there was no pressure to speed at all, which after the unfortunate accident on Sunday was appreciated. Also I have never ridden in a group before, none of my friends are riders so I have not been on the road with 30 other riders before was quite different and a lot of fun.

Hey thats really kool man, fantastic to feel the power of a decent bike aye, just a shame nothings quite as styleeeee as a GN250 :killingme

Dont worry about being the slowest, more riding will take care of that for you.

I tell you what will really improve your riding ability, a trackday, really teaches you what a bike is capable of! Sign up for the the next one you wont regret it.

...(only had the speed four for 2 weeks)...
Didn't I meet you at the top of Pitt St last week (I was on the Yellow VTR250)? If it was you (Speed 4 in Yellow), I am in love with your bike (I think I'm off to hell for "Coveting thy neighbours ride"). I've moved that model up my list of "wants".

I have been looking at the 600 range for a few months...Well done for waiting a whole 11 months before upgrading!! No doubt you'll be really appreciating the leap into the 600's!

Now it's traditional to upload pic/s when a KB'r gets a new bike, so unless you are without access to a digital camera we wanna see them pronto. :msn-wink: Oh and you didn't tell us what colour the machine is or even the year of manufacture?

Here is a nice crisp pic of last years model:

Here are the photos, its a 2004 model.
I have had 5 complete strangers come up to me to have a look at the bike in the last 2 weeks. Neven had that kind attention before, no other bike really looks like it :)
=> 3 different times when getting petrol, (different stations)
=> our friend from above at pitt street, through you were on you pedal bike at the time when waiting for the lights, not your motor bike
=> 1 when parking in the city
Here are some photos

Get used to it mate - but it's not just yours - it happens with all the new Triumphs.
I've had every model in the range in my shed at some time or another. It's constant with all of them....'I had one of those in 1952......etc'
Love it!

An Italian importer ripped the fairings off a TT600 and hotted it up a bit and gave it a speed triple look. Triumph liked the results so much they adopted the design as a production model.
It's a big seller in Europe where there are significant cost advantages in registering and insuring a 600 over the 955i's.

wow, thats the first time i seen one of them and i like it. :niceone: Good effort for stiking to a GN for almost a year, i bet it makes riding the speed four that much more enjoyable :ride:

I like things to perfect, so I didn't want to rush into a bigger bike until I had found what I wanted.
Also I do like the look of the GN and did enjoy riding it until I took it away up north for one of the long weekends and it just was not as much fun as I remembered.
So I went looking for the Bandit 600 which are a good price and discovered the speed 4 and was hooked. Both inline 4's, but the Bandit is simple carburettor, heavy etc where as the speed four is anything but simple, fuel injection air inducted & every review on the net was incredibly positive. Compared to other 600 it always came out the most comfortable, best handling and the comment, ‘the most fun to ride’.
Destroyed my budget and finances for the next few of months but its worth it so far.

Also compared to TT, yes the a lot is the same frame, brakes etc, but the engine has been modified to reduce horse power and increase torque, which has had a lot of positive reviews on the net as well.

So I was. Always like doing a bit of "bus dodging" during the week. I wondered why I couldn't remember going home that way on the VTR :D

I'm glad you liked the Bike, it made my day that I had only the bike for 1 1/2 days and a stranger on a pedal bike showed apprication for my new passion while I waiting at the lights of all places. :D
For the same price as a SV650, the speed 4 is a good buy, though I don't know how long this will last.
