Dont go silly now!
Mine are:
- Black Shadow
- 750 widowmaker with drum brakes
- Munch Mammuth (early one)
- 500cc 70's RR bike (any would do, but MV makes me drool...)
- A second 48 Panhead with suicide clutch and extended original springers!
- Hesketh (just because!)
And then I be happy to meet Hades.

Just a brand new Speed Triple would do me - in gloss burnt orange.

This may fall in to your silly category - and I would own it as much to have part of kiwi motorcycling as anything else.
But the Britten V1000 would be it for me.

This is of course a dream list..:p

7th January 2010, 08:42
I've been thinking about this a bit as well.
I think my list is:
Triumph Speed or Street Triple.
Harley Davidson: likely a Sportster but maybe an FX as long as it has mid controls, some rear wheel travel and decent front brake. I would LOVE an XLCR but not for the money they now go for. Am test riding an XR1200 in a few weeks
Honda VFR800
Yet another CB750 SOHC: I would ideally like it Wrenchmonkees style, but a CB750F1 would be cool. and usable and not a pointless shed ornament.
New Triumph T-Bird.
Cafe'd up SR500.
None of those are unachievable: although I would like one number plate and ride one at a time if it is going to cost a million bucks a year to road register them all......

Honda RC30.
Then I will die happily. (Or screaming in a awesome fireball)
HenryDorsetCase
7th January 2010, 10:15
RC30 is an excellent choice. I very nearly bought an RC51 last year, till I found out that in fact I owed the IRD money, not the other way around (pissed off? you have no idea....). But yes. add one of either of those to my list as well.

Ducati 1198S Tricolor
Triumph Huricane
MV Augusta F4

KTM 450 Dirt Bike
Britten
Cysz
Reckon that would keep me happy for a while.

- 750 widowmaker with drum brakes.
If you're talking about the H2 Kawasaki I don't think they ever came with drum brakes, or were you going to retro fit them?

Yep I have always wanted an H2 'widowmaker', there are a few around Welly's and they sound amazing on the hill while having a ciggie at the summit. Was lucky enough to have one parked at our local pub just a few weeks ago actually so I go to have a good perv! I would also love one of those new Norton Commandos! :yeah:
My ultimate dream would be to have a garage with a 2 smoker of every size in working condition before I die. Dreams are free!!

Mcintosh BR2 - a Kiwi icon that is street legal (unlike a Brittan)
Another CB750 Four single cam - a useable classic
Harley Davidson XR1200
Triumph Rocket 3 Classic - I love that insane power. If you've never ridden a Rocket at full noise you're missing something.
MV Agusta - the ultimate Italian bike
Egli Vincent - Swiss perfection meets British majesty
Suzuki RG500 - a road legal GP bike

if you define fifteen seconds or the first corner as "a while" ;) Then again, King Kenny flat tracked one, so how hard could it be really?

I'd like to own a NEW bike and/or a NEW car.
I've never in my whole entire life owned either.
As for model, a Ducati of some sort has been on my wishlist since I saw and heard my first Ducati Desmo 450 'Silver Shotgun' back in the mid '70s.

Mmmm, not bad, but it's the base model they make, with the cheapest options. As a kit it'd be here for less than 30 and I can't see another 27 in assembly/paint/compliance.
That being said it's very well built by the looks (except for that fucking Eagle on the tank). Bastard! I wanted the first Exile bike in NZ :D

In the silly category: any of the several Brough Superiors formerly owned by T E Lawrence. But any Brough would do...
More realistically:
KTM SMT,
Thunderbird 1600
Ducati Streetfighter
Triumph Street Triple
a Repsol 'Blade for sunny Sundays...

Just a brand new Speed Triple would do me - in gloss burnt orange.
You should have a look at the Speed Triple in Welly M/Cs. Saw it while I was in there today.
Not brand new or burnt orange but it does have the coolest paint job I've seen on a Triumph. Black with grey pattern (very hard to describe the actual pattern in words - tribal/squirly is the best I can come up with), tank and windscreen match so it looks proffesionally done.
Didn't look at the price or mileage so can't comment on these, but it looked like a 2005 onwards model.
Well worth a look if you are nearby.

Thanks for that. I called in yesterday and saw it when picking up an oil filter for the SV. Certainly looked unique. That particular bike apparently comes with factory black (you can take the tribal / swirly decals off if you want). That bike also has factory performance mufflers fitted too.
I still prefer the gloss burnt orange though.. Motorad has both a matt orange street triple R and gloss orange speed triple to oogle at.

Brownie's outside Tauranga has one sitting in his setup. I am sure it had drum brake front... A early blue one. He told me it had not been refurbished, but only tidyed up and had all orginal bits. I will pop in again this w/e and I take a pic and post it here. But without doing any research I am not sure if they came with drums or discs? I know that the early 500's had drum. Perhaps diffrent setup for different markets?

I already have 3 of my most favourite bike...
but I'd really love a Vincent...any Vincent I don't care! Love them so much I named my firstborn after the things.
Probably the only other one I'd sell my firstborn for would be a 1940's Indian. Maybe not sell firstborn, he's left home now and is a way cool young man..second born son is up for sale at the moment tho, I'd swap him no trouble
Im more into vintage than modern stuff, can you tell?

"Before I die" is a relative term. It can be today, tomorrow, when the kids move out or when the bank by mistake puts in $10 mill to the account...

Wouldnt mind a few bikes, aint into sportsbikes but that may change one day. Longest Ive had one bike is 2 1/2 years... really liked the Africa Twin, the last bike, but changed my mind and sold it. Gonna keep trying new types of bikes and see what I end up with. Is fun trying them out for a while, and bit of a luxury really.
This week I fancy:
Kwaka Triple. 2 stroke only though
Dirt track replica/project.. maybe the Kwaka triple could turn into an oldschool one of sorts.
CZ 350 twin, restore job.
XR600 - 650 to blast some gravel etc on.
Lambretta for round town, soop it up a bit too.
