Picture this. You have a trail bike for sale. You get a phone call.
First words from the caller
"yea I want to take your bike for a ride"
What would be the first thing going through your mind ?

my reply I thought was polite. I simply said "hey no problem if you want to come look at the bike feel free"
The response was "ohh no test drives--thats pretty dodgy innit?"
My gut said--yep you wannna ride --and ride and ride .

Yeah that sounds pretty dodgey.
He was probably was looking at one like yours but was in a different town to him or something :s -wanted to test ride it so he could see if he liked the other one.
Either that or he did want to ride, and ride, and ride, and ride.

I wouldn't buy a motor vehicle without a test ride/drive (when I got my 250 to learn on, I got a friend to do it).
I'd probably be happy to leave my keys and existing vehicle with the seller, unless of course the seller looked dodgy ...
Maybe suggest they come with a friend, who will stay behind with an existing vehicle (which at least you can get the number of)
Of course, that all changes if the bike isn't roadworthy/road legal for whatever reason.

Yeah, I wouldnt let someone ride my bike like that either.
I think it mainly comes down to gut feeling as to whether i let someone test ride it or not.
