I will soon need to have the 12000k service done on my K7400 Burgman.
The transmission oil change is due which involves some tricky dismantling
knowhow.

I have little faith in our local Suzuki dealer, they used the wrong data when
doing a previous check and charged me over $100 for checking the valves
which don't need attention until 24000k. They did not come across with
a discount when I pointed out that they had used the servicing specifications
for the earlier model 400's.

I think I am the only 400 owner in Hamilton so the locals would be practicing
on my scoot so I have decided to bring it up to an Auckland dealer for this
service.

Aucklanders please comment on your servicing experience
and venture an opinion as to which dealers workshop service is the
best and which has the most experience with Burgmans.

Don't know anything about Burgmans..but I have been to Colemans Suzuki in auckland city a few times,I wasn't impressed with their service at all, they didn't treat me very good..I aint going back again....

Also when i took my bike in for a full service, and they didn't bother checking the airfilter!!! I paid good money for a full service,I expected a full service.

Maybe Haldanes would be better...

PM Balu. He's mechanically minded and has had bits of insane1's dismantled in our garage. Can't promise anything, but he might have some advice. We've been completely happy with Haldanes for the servicing of both our bikes, Balu's burger included.

I was researching a while ago about possibly buying a pre-2007 Burgman. I've read all about the frequent valve checks issue with pre-2007 medium burgers and wanted to find out how much it'll cost to get them done at the local Suzuki dealer. The friendly guys came back with... "nope, you don't need to do that until 24,000 km."

"Is that true? I'm looking to get one of them 2002 models which is completely different from the 2007 and later models engine-wise."

"Yep, see, that's what our checklist says." *shows checklist*

"Even if it's a 2002 one?"

"Yep."

It's worth signing up for BurgmanUSA.com forums if you aren't already a member as they've got heaps of friendly people who knows a lot about these.

I'd well recommend Coleman's for a service. My Burgman went there for all of its servicing, and never had a moment's problem.
Always prompt, always reasonably priced. Always friendly. Always got leant a bike to get to work while mine was in.
I can't recommend them highly enough.

They've nearly all got an imaginary friend. People whose knowledge to trust? I don't think so..

I've been very happy with the service, quality of work and price from Haldanes (See Ramon). My AN650K8 is due for its 24K service in jsut over 2k and I will be taking it back there. They had already warned me that the 24K service would be more expensive due to the required checks. Colemans are also very good (Insane1 takes his there) and always has a good comment about there service. I do know that both these places see quite a few burgers.

+1 for Haldanes. No issues there, although I have never tried Coleman's. Mine will be going for its 12,000km check shortly.

Doug I bought my Burg from Colemans, and have also bought a couple of other bikes from them in the past. They were good to deal with. I've never had any of the bikes serviced there though, as I'm from out of town. It sounds like Colemans or Haldanes are worth considering anyway. Good luck, and let us know how you get on. :)

PS .... did you phone when you were up this way ?? I didn't hear from you ... I hope you had an enjoyable time in the north. :)
