Fucking mmmmmmm.....
Me and Mrs Max have just enjoyed a McKenzie High Country Pie, available from your local supermarket.
Nice, rustic packaging leads to 280g of light fluffy pastry with excellent filling. 15 minutes in an oven and it's a cracking pie.
I had the savoury mince and cheese, Mrs Max had the roast chicken. All up these are fantastic pies and my local bakery in Cockle Bay can fuck right off now, we have been converted.
Mrs Max is off down the supermarket to stock up first thing in the morning.
To accompany this feast, we chose cold Corona's with lemon. Herself has been tipping me the wink now for about 20 minutes or so, meaning I am in for a bit of horizontal jogging at some point.
In summary, McKenzie High Country Pies are:
(a) Reasonably priced
(b) Well presented
(c) full of nice tasty filling
(d) covered in a light pastry with a solid base, and
(e) tip top for getting the missus in the mood
Right, I'm off to brush me teeth and run a flanel over the old hairy brain, it's business time.....

Mr Maxx I have to agree. And they are even better *after* a few of said corona's.
And taking McJiims criticism of good old watties sauce objectively, I've come to the conclusion that said pies are enhanced by watties "lite" sauce (which is not a girly option when you're wolfing a 25g saturated fat pie) or a squirt of old blighties heinz ketchup.
Enjoy the post pastry coitus!

But are they made in the MacKenzie High Country? Seriously, I'm interested. I lived there for 15 years and the closest they came to haut cuisine pies was when the 'Black Stilt' in Twizel offered their mince pies with a choice of Watties or Pams tomato sauce.

They are nice pies but the $4.50 price at the local is a poke in the eye though. The local bakery does a better pie for a much more reasonable $3.20.

Yeah, right.
They look like quite a pie, but the price puts me off everytime, then again, I am a student. :P

If I hadn't just eaten 2 packs of biscuits I'd been keen on a pie.
Well, If I had a pie I'd eat it.
But that goes without saying, who has a pie and doesn't eat it?
Crazy people, that's who.
I've been eying up the family sized pies at the local bakery, We had one for dinner the other day, I was tempted to fight the family so I could have the lot, But we aren't allowed to even smack the kids around these days, never mind smack them around and steal their pie.
Was a damn nice pie though, and I was tempted.

Those (Mackenzie) pies were really good when first onto the market but they lack consistency, the best pies on the market are "Jimmy's" from Roxburgh, just can't beat em!
Hotten's pies are crap. IMHO. but then, so many men, so many opinions!

Damn! If I'd known that when we were there the other day I'd have bought a couple. It was a cold day too, perfect pie eating weather.

Max me old china, when next you are in the fair town of Welly vegas remind me to take you for the cullinary experience...... Trishas pies! Next to "Curry to go" it is food straight from heaven. When they came out with a curry pie I thought I'd explode with excitement.

Actually to be fair, we tried out some of Hotten's meat again at the new "Cellar Door" in Kurow the other day and it was bloody delicious, so I might give his pies another crack!
