So I have an RG150 and was just thinking, would it be wise to ride it from Auckland to Wellington? Would there be any complications, over heating etc...

Without having owned one, I'd expect the only limit would be yourself - if your up to the ride then make sure the bike has recently been serviced/is in good nick and get out there and enjoy!

I agree with Davo, but don't get it serviced the day before you go. Give it a week after the service to let any problems reveal themselves.

Sweet so I shouldn't have any problems. The powervalves are being done atm and once they are back I'd like to do a nice long trip over a weekend or so.

Thanks ya'll.

Can it travel at a 100Km/h easily?

You could ride your bike around the world. Easy.

When I took my KR150 which is quite similar to the RG150 I understand, up to Auckland and back (one day there one day back) I took an extra fuel bottle with me which I kept in my tank bag up the front (limited amount of luggage at the back). I must stress that I REALLY needed it because there were some stretches between petrol stations that the small tank on the KR150 just couldn't cover, reserve and all. I had to clean my carb on the way back as well. Other than that I had no problems (aside from a bin around Turangi caused by suddenly slick roads - check your tread!).

The trip back was much easier and took 8 hours rather than 12 hours up because the wind was behind me, oh, and I accidentally went via Wanganui on the way up too.

Finally, hope you have someone to give you a good back-massage when you get home!

Oh yeah, and bring duct-tape.

And if you have any problems you can disassemble and reassemble them beside the road using nothing but the little tool kit provided and duct tape!

Did Auckland to Nelson on an RG150 :)

I took my old RG from christchurch to greymouth to watch the street races, and down to queenstown on another trip. Went fine, except for hitting the low oil light at 10pm in the middle of no where on the canterbury plains. :D so yeah take oil whatever you do!

As long is its in good nic, and you know your bike, it will go the distance easy.

When I was a student (eg poor) I used to do a 500km trip about 8 times a year on an old 250 with less power than the RG150.

As long as the bike is in good condition and can keep up with the traffic you will be O.K. The rider is often the limiting factor. Take care of yourself with plenty of breaks and don't ride tired.

On one trip my mate on a Suzuki GP100 tagged along with me and another guy on his self tuned RZ250. The wee Suzi and rider made it no worries. It was the farken RZ that gave all the trouble.

As said, go for it. I did some big trips on the KR150 and the only problem as previously mentioned is the range. 150km tops including reserve has you worrying if you'll make it to the next fuel stop in time.

Oh don't expect it to be cheap though. The little two strokes gulp through the petrol and you also have to add in the cost of oil. I don't know what oil you use but I would recommend buying a big 4L container before you go and splitting it down into 1L containers that you can take with you (or w/e you have available). Buying servo oil soon adds up,

Good info on 2 stroke range issues cheers. Any of you KR150 owners ever manage to get hold of anything resembling a manual or handbook. All searches worldwide have ended up with nuffink. I'm thinking of escorting my son down to Paeroa BOTS on his KR. Hell of a fun bike.

Should be fine, me and few other are heading to the Brass monkey from Blenheim on 50cc scooters this year, so 150cc sounds massive.LOL
