I'm going out to help as a flag marshall for the buckets, I can't race as haven't raced enough and don't have a full racing license yet. So might as well help out instead and watch and learn.

And good on you for doing so because without helpers like yourself this sport couldn't go on for those Riders out their wanting to Race.
Its also a great position to be in especially seeing that you are wanting to learn, and learn you will.
Enjoy.

Weather is looking absolute crap for the weekend so will learn how to stay on 2 wheels in the wet. Such a shame to start the Nationals this way. Anyhoo no use complaining, at least the lawn will like it.:woohoo:

Just to add a bit of excitment. Will be great to watch. I think I'm going to a busy flag marshall.

Yeah, that should make the sidecars tight as, ya should be able to throw a blanket over all of them . . . well, on the start line anyway.

Can someone tell me what time the racing starts...? Looked at the NZSBK website and most other racing websites - they all tell you what day but no details about start times or proposed timetable of the races!!

I think MNZ and MCI should be congratulated on the marketing for this years event. I've heard several ads on The Rock, seen several TV ads, (which must be on around 6 to 8 coz thats the only time I'm around the TV), and theres a big bill board on at least one major road into Christchurch. No doubt there's something in the papers too. Well done!

Not gonna give too many details on todays performances.......... but it remained dry (but **** cold) for most of the day. All qualifying was completed. F3/protwin - sidecars - 125 had their first races............then the rain set in at 5.30. So streetstock/motards/clubmans will have all their races tommorrow. If the weather holds up it should be a busy day!
Sorry no result details but it would take ages and i,ll let everyone tell their own tales later. Think all up to date results are on mylaps.

What will happen if the weather doesn't? Hopefully it will clear in the morning and we will have an awesome day of racing.

It was a bloody cold day, didn't get over 13 degrees but the wind chill felt like 5 degrees, hate to think what temperature the track was even without the rain.

The track had a lot more grip than I thought it would right up to the point we had the light rain a few laps in and then it got very slippery

so if i get more horsepower i don't need balls

That is correct. Horsepower increases your straight line handling, thus eliminating the need to have a pair.

You have to finish the first lap to gain any advantage of 50g's worth more of hp.....

It was an awesome day, definitely not dampened (no pun intended, lol) by the weather, some great close racing, then there races where the leaders ran away with it. Great to watch, especially on a wet track.

I think it might be a bit closer at Teretonga but like you say, we will soon find out. They will definitely take some beating.
