View Full Version : I Just Bought a $16000 T-Shirt!

Slim

But it came with a really cheap bike. ;) :D

I picked up my RED Daytona 650  last night and got a classy ladies-cut t-shirt with Triumph printed all over the front. 3kms on the clock when I picked it up! My first ever brand-spanking-new vehicle. What a rush! :2thumbsup

And today has dawned fair, with beautiful blue skies. :calm: Shame I had to come to work, but now there's a loan to pay off. On the plus side, the money from my win appeared in my savings account overnight, so the $10,000 loan I drew on last night has just been cut in half. :)

And I'm ashamed to say that after 6.5 years of faithful service, I'm not missing my old beast at all. Probably swallowed up in the excitement of the new purchase. :wari:

So drinks are on me. :drinknsin

Well done! :niceone:

Great choice of bike. The extra 50cc on the previous model has alledgedl made a marked improvment over the 600cc version.

Enjoy :niceone:

enjoy.. I nearly bought a yellow 650 when I was looking around and bought mine. Only reason I didn't buy it is I had already put down a deposit on the 636 before I saw the 650. So I darent ride it, just incase I liked it as much as the 636.. very sexy bikes in their way, and the extra 50cc really helps them apparently.

enjoy :niceone:

There, there my friend. It's ok. Relax, count to ten, then repeat after me, " I will sell parts of my body on Tradme so that I can afford a new bike".

I did. While this time tomorrow I may also have a brand new bike, I'm still wondering how I'm going to manage to change gear......

I haven't been here 6 months yet, so no sick leave owing to me.

Wari - :killingme

ZXR - I'm 33 years old. One day you too will get to buy your dream bike brand-spanking-new too.

Bug & others - the extra 50cc definitely makes the difference. I rode the 600 last year & didn't buy because of that lack of power in the mid-range. The 650 has definitely fixed that problem & it's a sweet bike to ride. I rode the 636 last year too, and it's a sweet bike, but the ergonomics were just wrong for my back. I'm sure you're not missing out on anything. :)

Yeah, it caught up to the R6 in peak HP and Torque ;)

Lovely bike though - I really like the lines, and the solid colours look really classy.

Hope you have heaps of fun Slim.

beautiful beautiful beautiful!
you can't have nu bike and not accessorise to match.and a t-shirt just won't do. a yello helmet with 2 thin black racing stripes, and a small custom name in a black-letter font at the base of the neck. and of course, if your bike is yellow- the kill-bill uma thurman leather jacket. and black pants, just to tone it back- lest you feel too much like an expensive supercharged kung-fu banana...
still seriously: beautiful bike :msn-wink:

Congrats. Great score.

The Daytona 650 has one of the nicest, most confidence inspiring front ends of any bike i've ridden.
We'll be cheering for it at the 3 hour race on the weekend.

Dead sexy in red too - and fwiw - I've just been over at motomail - and they have some new style Rjays leather jackets just in - IN RED. (and black)

Aaahhhh. But I'm already kitted in black/white/silver Hein Gericke 2-piece leathers & the very cool (and matching the celtic theme) Shoei XR1000 with Diabolic graphic, so I don't need to get any R-Jays stuff.

Plus I find the R-Jays stuff too big for me in the wrong places ie shoulder width, neck circumference & length. They're Aussie kit made for Antipodean males (ie rugby/league players). Reasonable quality though.

Dave - who's racing the Triumph at the 300 race then???

Only 30minutes until I can kit up & find the long way home.

Well that would just look da bomb!
Love that diabolic. I'm in the process of securing a new Shoei myself.
I got a lecture from mckay that my all black XR9000 is too much black ink on the KR magazine pages and I have to get something with a graphic to define the shapes better.
Almost said yes to the red diabolic, but I'm going for the 'X-SPIRIT KAGAYAMA TC5' - it's greys will go with anything I happen to be riding. Can't wait till i get my mits on it.

I have rjays leather jeans - they are comfy on the bike and were reasonably priced, but I'm going to get Kerry at MSW to make me some for next season.

A little embarassingly - i can't tell you who is racing the Daytona just now - but I aim to finds out!

Congrats on the new bike Slim!!

What was the "win" that halved the loan? Have I missed something?

What??? You mean you didn't get a carbon fibre accessory catalogue as standard with the purchase??? When I bought my bikes I got an envelope addressed "To you and your Monster" with them. The envelope contained a c/f accessory catalogue, and a Ducati accessories catalogue, and a Ducati clothing catalogue. Very handy.

Leave it with me. I'll get some catalogues organised for you. What's your postal address?

The Kagayama paintjob is awesome! Good choice. :niceone:

Probably no one is racing the Daytona this season, since they've made it a 650 & put it out of the Supersport class. And thanks for the link - I'll check it out later this afternoon, once things quieten down round here.

Linda - you're kidding me about the postal address ..... right?

To Those Wanting A Test Ride - the insurance deal I've got for it restricts the covered riders to two: myself & The Man. And after The Man dropped the CBR6, even that's not a sure thing! ;)

I was just reading in Bike magazine yesterday that Triumph have been testing their next supersport contender against a GSXR600 and ZX6RR. It's a 675cc triple, which is legal in current supersport rules. No news on whether or not Triumph consider it competitive, but what a cool idea!

Extra long in the arms and extra reinforcing on the knuckles :devil2:

Congrats on the new wheels, Slim. Hell, I'm approaching 42 and I have yet to afford a new set of wheels (all I can do to afford new spare parts)

Ride safe.
