Re-proofing a jacket?

What's the best stuff for reproofing an AJ's Motorcycle jacket or similar. Mine is leaking all over. I tried some stuff - Geko, religiously following instructions and it leaks even more!

Is it a textile jacket? If so, i have some bad news for you.....I tried to do that spray on thing with mine and it was a complete failure. Ended up purchasing a new one. Was a bit p<<<<<d off to be honest. Paid good money for it and 6 months down the track it leaked. They gave me a good deal on new one though so no complaints. Anyway....they don't waterproof again very well from my experience. Sounds like the membrane inside is torn maybe. Have you crashed at all with it on? That renders them pretty useless straight away.

Oh yea....and if it's leather....just give it liberal coatings of the proper leather oil. Got tons of it at home if you care to lend some.

I just use 3m scotchguard.
Running low so may try something else next time, seems to work except left shoulder still leaks on my alpinestar.

Chain lube? you mean the wax one or you like being sticky?

I use Dubbin - but it depends on how waterproof it is in the first place, or the kind of rain you ride through :sunny:

Leather or Textile? Need to know this before we can help you.
If its textile was it waterproof before? Where is it leaking? Stitching?
Trick is to do everything. I found the best thing for stictching is scrub candle wax in, iron it in - then put a water-prof over top.

Use the green stuff for outdoor equipent (tents and the like). Saturate it thoroughly, let it dry, then repeat. Worked on my Teknic jacket for years.

If textile, then the waterproof membrane between the layers will have split and that's why it's leaking - in which case it's time to buy a new one if you wanna stay dry. IMO the spray on stuff is just a 'bandaid' fix and will never work properly.

My Teknic didn't have a separate waterproof membrane - the membrane was actually bonded to the inside of the cordura. I had to spray it with Snoseal because after my second spill, the jacket was a hybrid leather/cordura one, and Snoseal was the easiest way to ensure that the sticthcing between the two was waterproofed AND to effectively waterproof both the cordura and leather. Couldn't be fagged using two or three different products. "I spray and wok awaayyy..." was easier.
