Fucken bullshit is what it is.

Just after Keiran was born, Sue was attacked by two loose dogs while walking him and our little staffy/whippet. Sproket (our dog) managed to stay between the two dogs and the pram and luckily a couple of Indian dudes up the road jumped in their car and came racing up.

When animal control caught up with the dogs a little later, they were busy barreling down the road chasing another poor woman pushing a pram.

Dogs were collected (thank fuck) and brought by home so Sue could properly identify them, then destroyed. Guess what, the irresponsible low lifes that "owned" the dogs now have two more.

i have a doberman....i train him...dog obedience, he's in a fenced section, can't get out, yet because of his breed he is known as agressive. he isn't...he's a pussy in diguise.

It's the owner's that need putting down, i feel sorry for dogs that are bought as cute puppies and then ignored. they revert back to their natural habit of hunting and running in packs.

owning a dog is a huge responsibility.....geez some people in this world are so ...so.....words fail me.

I was bit in the face by our dog when I was young. Once when I was about 10 then again when I was about 15. I thought i'd see if he had changed, obviously he hadn't but he was a little slower :). It wasn't the dogs fault. I was patting him around a joint that was sore and had my face close to him. No reason to put him down at all since he was just telling me off.

Slightly different story since I wasn't mauled but ya get the idea.

Our dogs just bark at ya, then you come in the property and they charge ya so they can play. Bloody Weimariners hahah (can never spell it)

unfortunatley some dog owners are blind to the fact that that their dog/s can be dangerous
There are also some owners who like a dangerous dog. They should be charged when things like this happen.

Shit happens but a lot of time it can be avoided if people give a shit

I took a Welsh Springer Spaniel, old and docial into school once on a lead, and the kids loved it, but one parent got in my face about it, saying can't you have thought to kids who might not like dogs, as mine as been bitten by one and is terrified of them. I was gob smacked how he handled it (could have been better), as dog was on a lead and under my complete supervision. I have always taught my kids to be wary of animals, but not afraid. But there I agree with a dog attacks, courts for the owners, death for the dogs.... and why should they get two more dogs (as per comment above re another story). Its like the man who has had another baby and he is in jail for hurting his first one.... sick!

absofuckinglutely!!! People who can't love and care for their animals don't deserve them. I do kinda feel sorry for the Rotties, as chances are they didn't have much of an upbringing..... (spot the single white female white 4 cats and a motorbike.... my cats are my kids).

Yes, some are more 'programmed' to learn certain behaviours, but in my time I have come across rotties, pit bulls, staffies and ridgies who wolud keel over at the very sight of a tummy rub, and labs, jack russells and even poodles who are positivley Damien-like (no offence to any damiens out there) purely to how their owners have treated them.

Set some similiar dogs onto the owner and see how s/he likes it - chances are the animals would enjoy their chance to exact revenge!

You bitchslap a pug dog all it's life and it's gonna be pissed off at the world. Sooner or later it's gonna lash out. Show it's face is so mashed up it can't bite onto shit but it's gonna give it a damn good go.

And yes dogs are breed to be certain things. Rotties, sheapards, dobermans etc are breed to guard and protect. They are trained to attack.

Our girls are breed to hunt in the bush (weimaraners). Our boy is a little confused because he's a cross between a retrevier and a weimaraner. Pretty much the perfect hunting dog. Now because we don't hunt, they aren't trained to follow commands for that type of thing BUT they show natural tendencies to do it.

Don't confuse breed with training. Just because someone doesn't "formally" train a dog doesn't mean they're not "training" them. Beating them with a stick to make them aggressive is training.

Yes there are more aggressive breeds then others as well. NOT training these dogs to be controlled is just as bad as bashing them with a stick.

You buy/get a certain dog for the companionship not because it's "cool" or "looks the part".

Why have some dogs that have attacked been successfully trained to be placid and completely safe if there's only dangerous dogs?

I fostered and rehomed dogs with issues. They normalise very quickly if done right, but I chose easy dogs to retrain as I'm no expert. If you cant make a border collie sit, you need to start at the beginning.

7yr border collie bitch 'Bobby' had nipped a kid on the face and was given away. 2 weeks later she was the darling of a very large rest home....and one of the nicest, happyist dogs I have known.

Its just stupid to let two large bull rotti's wander and gain dominance.

Often/always these attacks can be avoided but people dont ring the hotline until something like this actually happens.
