"But his mother Debra Francis has questioned whether Duncan could have broken the law on his bike."

And we wonder why there is no personal responsibility. "Mummy says I didn't do it so there !!!"

Yep,pushbikes can go rather fast downhill, especially if you got like 21-28 gears.

Hahaha.... mums and their sons :innocent: My Duncky wunky would never ride that fast.... or drink alcohol... or talk to girls :blink:

75 in a 70 zone?? What, was the cop gonna give him a ticket? I remember ripping down some massive hill on a school camp at 95km/h. It was pretty freaky. Some of the kids were pretty pissed that we spent ages riding up this freakin massive hill only to ride down it again, but most thought it was awesome :niceone:

It's not hard to break the speed limit on a push bike - Queen Street or the main drag through Ponsonby are two places where it is exceedingly easy. I quite enjoy belting along Hobsonville Road, a 50kmh zone, passing cars that are 'speeding' at 60kmh. It's a good workout and the look on peoples faces are hilarious.

I got hassled moons ago in Newtown, Wellington, hurtling down Constable Street at about 3.am holding onto the side of a Morris Minor ute doing about the same, 70-odd k's. The cop never even looked at the driver of the ute (who was a mate of mine), he just hassled me! He even went to the trouble of taking the frame number off the bottom of the bike to make sure it wasn't stolen. After much lecturing and chest beating he let us go and we proceeded to repeat the chucklefest along Island Bay Parade. Yee-har!

Some dude had a bike computer that showed speed, max speed, cadence etc. I don't know how accurate it was back then but we were fair ripping it. Hindsight says it probably would have been pretty messy had anyone lost it but we really were bulletproof back then :innocent:

Coppers cought my son (he was about 12 at the time) doing jumps on his push bike at port waikato a couple of years ago
They escorted him home
He had the biggest grin on his face as he rode up the centre of the road with a cop car following him

Like I said before, I have taught him well

Yup, apparently my 20 speed is too slow too......
The dish in the wheel to hold a 14 sprocket cluster must be what makes the bike so fast......

Holy crap, you're old enough to be my neighbor....

Yeah you can get some real good speeds on the pushbikes, i took my 18 speed down "the drive" hill in whangamata with a spedo on it, got up to about 80!

Something quite un-nerving about going that fast on a vehicle that weigh considerably less than you tho...
